Song-ography, the 'Photograph' edition...

"Look at this photograph
Every time I do it makes me laugh
How did our eyes get so red?
And what the hell is on Joey's Thing #3's head?...

"And This is Where I Went to School"

Ironically, Thing #1's name is "Joey".  Yep, a 6'4" guy we all call "Joey".  This was his high school graduation.  2003.  Eleven years ago.  I have a similar photo of Thing #2's graduation nine years ago.  Where Thing #3 is yet again, donning the mortarboard.  I have a space saved on my wall for a reenactment next year, at Thing #3's high school graduation.  At that time she will wear the mortarboard...honestly.

...Every memory of looking out the back door
I had the photo album spread out on my bedroom floor
It's hard to say it, time to say it
Goodbye, goodbye...

That time is creeping up on me.  Last night I looked out my back door and saw a beautiful Thing #3, her gorgeous friends, their oh-so-nice families, and lots of cameras.  Shout out to Thing #3 and all her friends for "keeping it classy" for their Junior Prom.  Seriously, have you SEEN some of the dresses making the prom rounds these days?  Those are dresses that will appear in future photo albums, for future kids to see, resulting in their future eye-rolls, and future "What the hell were Grandma and Grandpa THINKING letting you out of the house wearing THAT?!?!?!?".  Not to mention...

...Look at this photograph
Every time I do it makes me laugh
Every time I do it makes me..."

  3. Yes, I have to say kuddos to all the parents that helped their things look as classy as they did last night. From when I first started following you I can't believe how much more grown up thing #3 looks...and just as beautiful!

  6. Dear Kathy - I did another link up! It seemed very much without planning to, that it applied. It was only today alone with my thoughts that I was thinking that as time goes on the passage of time makes more of an impact. Thanks for sharing that sweet photo. Renee.

  7. Mornin' Kathy, photographs can bring such joy. When I was a Nurse I would show patient's selected photos and they would talk about then for days. Just a little bit of joy from something so simple that is shared. I love your idea of printing out your blogs in book form. Too bad I didn't do something like that because I've lost lots of blogs and photos I can't replace. Live and learn, they say. I am enjoying linking up with your Song-ography each week. Thanks so much.

  8. What a fun way to chroicle the passage of time, the realizing of dreams and the relationships between your "things"!! I love that you bring your sense of humor and creativitiy to making things special for your family! {also, next week's song is one of my all time favorite songs!}

  9. Your "Things # 1, 2 and 3 are gorgeous as are you. I have a Granddaughter graduating from high school this May and she just posted her Prom date on Face Book. What memories that brings back and what pride in how beautiful these children are. And, I am sure there are those that are saying ..." how do you let them wear that", but they don't know because they aren't experiencing the joy of this moment ... they will see. Love your interpretation of this Song-ography, but then, I would expect nothing less from you. You are awesome :)

  10. Kathy, you have such beautiful Things! (And one is handsome, of course) I love your sense of humor that shines through this post. The high school days were so much fun, with friends coming over all the time. I know you're enjoying your youngest's season in school. It does go way too fast!

  11. Ahhh they grow so quickly. My son will be 15 this year and is not the same height as Michael.... I love that they are growing up though, even if sometimes I miss the babies that they once were, they are far more interesting now.... and challenging!

  12. They do grow up so quickly. I am thankful (but yet a little sad) that my daughter is not into the prom thing. She does virtual school, but could attend the local high prom if she wanted with any number of friends! Yes, some of the dresses.... what are the mom's thinking? Oh well! I am glad to be back participating this week! I hope you have a great week now that spring is finally here!

  13. Such a great photo tradition! I agree about the questionable prom dress choices I've seen lately. I hope she had a great prom!

  14. Making my rounds late this week. Love the picture and truly, where does time go. I won't even mention the state of what qualifies as "prom dresses" as my son's BFF when to homecoming in something that should have been reserved for an older female on a red carpet. Lets just say it left little to the imagination. WHAT was her mother thinking???
