Song-ography, the "I Would Walk 500 Miles" edition...

"But I would walk 500 miles
and I would walk 500 more
just to be the man dog who walked a thousand miles to fall down at your door."

-I Would Walk 500 Miles (The Proclaimers)

"I Would Walk 500 Miles"
(and I seriously believe my dog WOULD!)

And SOMEWHERE on the other side of the world, in a different hemisphere, there is a place full of sun and warmth. Where legs walk...uncovered and exposed, and sunscreen is plentiful.  I've heard tales of it's existence.

"And I Would Walk 500 More"
(and I seriously believe my dog would rather be walking HERE!)

**********

How did it happen?  January is done and in the books.  The bright side?  Scratch off another month til Spring.  An even brighter side?  February means the Winter Olympics are in the house!  I am a total Olympic fanatic.  I could watch them on the television 24/7.  Even the stupid sports. And yes, I do believe there are a few of those.  But I'll refrain from listing them in case there are any Curling crazies out there (disclaimer:  I WILL watch curling too, Lord help me).  In honor of the Olympics, next week's Song-ography prompt is one of the official songs the United States is using to promote the Olympics, "My Day" by Danielle Bradbury...

"My Day"
Danielle Bradbury

Thank you for taking part of Song-ography.  I've had a few song suggestions for future Song-ographies that I will be utilizing.  If you have any you would like to suggest please feel free to suggest away.  I look forward to visiting your blogs where I'm always amazed at the creativity and different interpretations of the same song/lyrics.  It's what I love best about mashing up music with photography. We all head down the same road, then veer off onto different paths.  The good thing is, there is no wrong way.

P.S.  You can now find me on Facebook. Please hop on over to You'll Shoot Your Eye Out and give me a "like".

  1. Love the puppy prints! And the sparkle of the snow. Looks like you are in for more snow this week, but hoping you get a speedy spring.

  2. You are right, one month of winter checked off the books, and countdown to the Olympics. Great shot of the beach birds...!!

  3. I am SO glad that January is over. It is definitely my least favorite month of the year!

We are very excited for the Olympics at our house. It is definitely something to look forward to while we wait for spring.

  4. I LOVE this song and always (badly) sing along to it in a loud voice if I hear it on the car radio. That is such a clever capture of the bird confidently walking in alongside the couple on the beach. Yes, you and I are opposites in our weather, the washing was out on the line today to get dry by the sun and breeze - I know I'm sounding like a broken record but even though it's fact, it's still strange to contemplate the differences. 5. Yay Olympics!! I need my Curling fix :). Cute paw prints, but if you want a road trip to see how footprints in the sand would work, I'm in!!

  9. and by curling I believe you are referring to ice sweeping? I enjoy the olympics as well, but not sure I'm in it for 24/7 ... but as PA Phil just ordered up another 6 weeks, 24/7 might will out. Paw prints are cute - beach prints, cuter. :) Have a good one Kathy.

  13. I love the song, too but I'm sure it would only be my dog that could sing it with honesty. My husband does quite an eyeroll when it plays..lol.

    I loved the pics!

  14. Love your photo of the sparkling snow, although I'm a bit tired of the real stuff. Punxsatawney Phil predicts 6 more weeks of winter. UGH! (un)Happy Groundhog's Day! Dreaming about being back on the beach. Summer WILL return eventually. I like how the little bird is marching along with the people in your shot. Cute! Apparently everyone loves a stroll on the beach.

  15. Those puppy prints -- so cute! I do live in that land you've heard of. We had a warm January (what?!) and now we are praying it's warm 4 weeks from today. That's the day of my daughter's wedding on the lawn above the surfing beach. Praying for sun that day :)

  16. That low POV on the dog paw prints....yowza. I'd love to be barefoot on the beach right NOW. Al Gore-yah. He must be deep under a snow bank somewhere.

  20. So ready for warm sunshine. Don't care for the Olympic, but will see photos as a friend is the photographing them. Baseball is just 2 weeks away. Can't wait.

  21. I'm with the dog, I'd much rather be on that beach! - What a fun take on the lyrics. I am so ready for spring and warmer weather. We are supposed to be back down below 20 in about a week, brrrrr!

  22. I am deeply troubled by the winter Olympics, not the event as such but the country in which it is being hosted and the Olympic committees refusal to address any of the issues that have arisen. In my opinion, despite the horror for the athletes I think it should have been cancelled as relocating at this late stage is just not possible. Russia's attack on the LGBT community and the State driven persecution of gay and lesbian people is utterly unacceptable, it is a direct infringement of their human rights and one that we, and I am including the rest of the 'free world' in that 'we', should taking this opportunity to stand up for these basic freedoms.

However, I love the skating..... *sigh, it is tough to have principles but on this occasion I plan to boycott the whole thing. That does not mean I do not support the athletes and I wish them all the best of luck but I can not condone Russia as a host. It is just plain wrong

  24. Awww...love the puppy snow prints. How I wish this pic was as close as I would come to snow for a while. Unfortunately, I'm gearing up to go out & shovel once again. Sigh...that darn groundhog.

  26. The doggie foot prints are great; love your focus and POV. But the beach and that BIRD striding along - his legs echoing those of the giant humans behind him - that one is just perfect!

  27. Yes, that would be my side of the world for the sunshine and beaches! Your dog print photo is just adorable.

  29. I do love those paw prints! Very nice. I'm not much of a sports fan, but it will give me something else to listen to while I'm on the computer.

  30. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - you ROCK - LITERALLY! What fun to have landed here from the Blog Party...working my way down your newer posts to the Party Post...singing my way down, rather. And if the Olympics weren't starting tonight (believe me, I will watch the curling, too...in fact, I think EVERYONE secretly sneaks a peak, at least!), I would be watching Benny and Joon, because they use the song as the lead-in to the movie. Newest Follower - thanks for the smiles tonight! Tanya
