Frosted Flakes for breakfast...

The week that was...

"Frosted Flakes"
Ambler, PA
October 21 - October 28, 2013
Project 52 (44/52)

If not "Frosted Flakes" for breakfast, then definitely "Flakes of Frost".  I walked downstairs in the quiet of the morning to see a frosted wonderland out my window.  The first frost of the season.  What does one do?  She grabs her Uggs and her camera and heads outside to lay down on the front sidewalk of course.  The trash men waved hello, friendly guys that they are.  As beautiful as this is, I unfortunately know what it also means. First comes frost, then comes daylight savings time, then comes me whining and complaining for the next few months about the lack of sunshine and dropping temps in my life.  It's a yearly ritual.  My family loves it almost as much as they love that other yearly ritual I whine about...that I am somehow required to get older each year on my birthday (which just happens to be in a dark, cold month...coincidence?  Ha!).

But for now, I'm kinda lovin' the "bling" going on outside my soon-to-be cocoon.  AND, I've got a few more weeks before my fingers go numb while trying to take photos outdoors. AND, I've been known to be easily distracted by shiny, sparkly things...just ask my trash men.  So "Frosted Flakes" for breakfast?  They're GREEEEEEEEEAT!

Here's where I'm linking up today ..."The Party's On"

Please join me on Sundays for Song-ography.
This week's song title is Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You".

  4. Nice job capturing this. i always love how these frosts look. Very rarely do I get to see them in Texas, but definitely take advantage when I do. It was worth laying down to get this great shot! Hope you have a great week

  6. Oh my... you seem to have advanced in the weather department. We have not really had any real cold yet and are still waiting for the first frost but I suspect it will appear soon

  7. Such a cool shot! We haven't had quite that much frost yet - just hints on the cars...either that, or I haven't been up early enough. That could be it. I've always loved winter - I'm a fan of hibernating....And snow. But working at a 9-5 the last few years has made me miss the light! I'm a November birthday...you?

  8. Love the sparkle! Don't fret about birthdays at least you can get down on the sidewalk and still get UP. I wouldn't dare do that anymore. But then I'm probably 30 yrs. older than you. You are 32 right? I hope your day is as special as you are.

  14. Awesome post!!!
    And that shot ... wow!
I laughed out loud .... because going out ..... in the cold ..... and laying on the sidewalk ..... would be something that I would do to get the shot!
    Stay toasty!!!

  16. Very cleaver post Kathy! Frost has hit us already --- then it warmed up again. But our past 10 days of awesome autumn weather will end today. Luckily I got a photo of my neighbors tree completely full with YELLOW leaves yesterday, before the winds will hit it today. (i don't like wind. do you like wind?) I'm with you on the dreary winter, days. If I can stay warm, that is all I ask. Thank you for your fun comments last week. Now lets have a greeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat day.

  20. Hello Kathy, thanks for welcoming me into the beginning of your winter. I know you're probably getting a bit tiresome of my comments about your seasons, but your change of seasons are so distinct compared to where I live. And during these past couple of years I'm really appreciating how you notice each sign and prepare. I just love the mix of frost and the sparkle of colour in this capture. Renee
