Song-ography, the "Lean on Me" edition...

Welcome to another Sunday, and a new Song-ography link-up.  This past week I was determined to not root thru my archives (altho perfectly legal here, whew!), but to take some new photos with the song title "Lean on Me" in mind.  I actually had quite a few I felt "okay" in using.  But then...I rounded a corner in Cape May, New Jersey and found the shot that had apparently been waiting for me all the while.  Dontcha just love rounding those type of corners?   Of course, the next corner I rounded I got side-swiped by an eighty-year old lady who apparently thought she could fit between me and the 3 inches of spare space separating me from a wall...and that included her cane too.  Come to think of it, I could have probably used her and her cane for "Lean on Me" too, but her son had me side-tracked with his apologies for his mom.  Gotta love the fact that you are never too old to be embarrassed by your parents.  So many years left of red faces for my Things, gives me something to shoot for. Have to admit, she was kinda cute in her single-minded focus and determination to get where she wanted in a post-haste, take no prisoners, type of way.  Gotta admire that 'tude, regardless of age OR walking devices.

Can I tell you all how thrilled I am with all of your positive feedback regarding this link up?  Seriously, the Better Half is going to have to soon burst my bubble so my head fits back in thru our front door.  Being the mom of three Things, it just isn't that often that I get a resounding thumbs-up on much.  So mucho thanks.  If you have any suggestions for song titles you would like to see included in the future, please shoot me an email (kmcblackburn@gmail.com)  or post it in the comments.  And speaking of suggestions, I am going to take one from Adrienne who blogs at My Memory Art for suggesting the song title I have chosen for next week's prompt.  So make sure to stop by her blog and give her a big pat on the back for challenging you (I'm actually kinda lovin' this one)...

"Both Sides Now"
Joni Mitchell

Gotta quote a line from one of my favorite movies, Love Actually, regarding Joni Mitchell...

Karen: "I love her. And true love lasts a lifetime. Joni Mitchell is the woman who taught your cold English wife how to feel"

Sorry, not gonna give the English total monopoly on how Joni can tap into your emotions. So take a listen, the lyrics offer quite a diverse range of possibilities for interpretation.  And I'll see you back next Sunday for your creations.

But for now?  Let's link up your interpretations for this week's "Lean on Me" by Bill Withers.  And thanks for joining in!

P.S.  I want to give a shout out to Thing #2 who joined the blogging world last week.  Since she told me that her fiance' was making fun of her while she photographed their dinner tonight, I'd say she fits right in!  She informed me that she IS linking up this week to Song-ography.  Altho, being the twenty-something year old that she is, she isn't sitting home waiting to post at midnight...she has a social life.  Yeah, enjoy it while you can honey.  But I'm going to give her a plug here, and encourage you to please stop by Please Kiss the Cook  and take a gander.  I think she's starting to get embarrassed that her mom is the only one who comments up to this point.  Honestly, you'd THINK she'd be use that after 26 years!

  1. Hey Kathy,
I was excited about this weeks song choice because I knew exactly what I wanted to post. Love the leading lines on the rockers. You gloat away!

    1. It's part of the rules...sometimes you already HAVE a perfect shot! No need not to use it just because you didn't take it this week. No foul :)

  4. Love that 'leaning' is movement...not stagnant - like these rockers. The thing about the song being such a two way street - and the back and forth motion of the rockers - well, just love that you were led to this porch!

  5. Glad you survived the OAP attack :O)) Love that shot. Have been trying to think of song titles... Fields of Gold (good one for late summer/autumn); Love Me, Love My Dog; Flowers in the Rain; I Want to Ride my Bicycle; Take it Easy; Blue Alert; As Time Goes By... Will keep thinking!

  10. Oh yes I love those corners that reveal just the image. I have so many song suggestions, but where to start.... How about 'If I Had a Million Dollars' by The Bare Naked Ladies, reminds me of summertime in Philiy on one of my trips to visit my now husband we took the boat across the river and went to see them at The Susquehanna Bank Centre. It was a perfect summer evening, when I hear this song I am there in his arms listening to this... *happy sigh

  12. Totally wish I took this photo and yes rounding a corner to find magic is such a great thing! I also had one of those near death experiences with a woman hell bent on marching thru. Sadly I was 8 and I backed up.....into a display of expensive and breakable Beatrix Potter figurines. My mom still has the collection with glued on ears and paws and a few missing parts. I'll take this to therapy with me next week and try to sort it out. : )
Thanks for hosting this fun link. I'm totally NOT surprised that it's having success. You rock.

  17. I love these rocking chairs, all lined up. What's amazing is that you had your camera at just the right moment. I got a camera purse last week as a gift. I think that will help me carry my camera more places. I love it! Thanks so much for hosting this FUN party!

  20. Hello, I'm visiting from "Sundays in My City". Your photo gives me goose bumps. I imagine the stories that may have been told by folks sitting and rocking and spending the time with each other.

  21. Love that picture. There's something about rockers on a porch. I was just driven in from the rocker on my porch. I would have stayed out there protected from the thunder and lightening if not for the wind and rain.

  28. I love this! I sadly didn't get a photo this week for Song-onlogy, I was very disappointed. :( I just couldn't find one in my archives I liked and never got a shot that said what I wanted it to. I'm looking forward to trying again this week. Also, I love "Love Actually" and that line from the movie. :)
