Song-ography, the "Homeward Bound" edition...

Welome, welcome, welcome to Song-ography.  My first attempt at a link-up.  Hopefully not my last attempt at a link-up. I am so excited to see where this mash-up of song/photography takes everyone thru  interpretation and creativity.  This week's song title is "Homeward Bound" by Simon and Garfunkel.  Seriously one of my fav songs which never fails to put both a smile on my face AND leave me feeling a bit melancholy at the same time.  Ironically, the exact same combo of emotions I had the other day when I found myself happily singing along to a song, but then realized I was in an elevator.  Which meant...I'm REALLY old if elevator music put a smile on my face!  FYI, it wasn't "Homeward Bound".

"Homeward Bound"
Ambler, PA

Okay, I HATE to admit this but at first I was kinda ticked off that this guy was oblivious to me taking a photo.  I mean I was sitting perilously in the middle of a freakin' train track!  (disclaimer:  the Better Half was standing behind me on train look out duty).  He HAD to have noticed me...right?!? But part way thru his journey into my shot I realized his trek made it a much more interesting shot.  So thank you sir for your either being too deep in thought, or your total disregard.  Either way, I'll take it.

Hope you all had fun with this week's "Homeward Bound".  Before you link up below, take a look at what NEXT Sunday's song title is...

"Up on the Roof"
James Taylor

I saw JT in concert last year, and I think I like him even better NOW than I did in my younger years. There is just something about him that reminds me of a bottle of wine...he has aged just fine.  And I think I'm kinda crushin' on him a bit too with that laid back style of his. The guy is just way cool.  So let's see what you can do photographically with one of his songs.

  1. Congratulations on your very first link up!! This is a great idea. Looking forward to seeing everyone's interpretations of this classic song. I almost went to the Ambler Station today, but went with Hamilton where I've been spending much time lately :)

  2. Awesome shot Kathy. I love that you did B/W - Really adds to the feel of the shot. How funny that the guy didn't seem to notice you were trying to take a photo. Lots of great lines and angles in the shot. This Meme is going to be fun and also challenging. Hope you don't mind that I combined my post with SHS's post too. I hate posting twice in the same day.

  4. A wonderful, atmospheric shot - stunning in monochrome.
I can't believe that you chose a train track as I did! But mine has a slight "twist" in it.

  5. Must be a perfect composition - those lines, the perspective and the positioning of the figure/ Love it!

  6. I kind of love him in the frame. Also you are very confident your other half has your back ;)

  7. I would be aggravated too, but having a human subject in this shot does give it a whole different 'feel' than if the tracks were the focus. Nicely done.

  9. Wanted to be here for your first meme link up Kath. I didn't have an image that fit this week, but I will definitely keep you in mind for next week!

  11. I think I would have felt the same way. I've often silently screamed, "GET OUT OF MY PICTURE," only to end up taking a great shot with the person in it. This is a great shot!

  13. So industrial - great processing and I think the head down, drudging forward man adds to the labor tone of the picture. I've enjoyed this week's melody and look forward to next. Thanks Kathy!

  16. Yay, yay, yay. Double yay that I finally saw it. I've been so absent-best intentions, but absent. Wishing you much success with this new endeavor. (p.s.-no song titles with "baby" in it, at least for a bit)
I like your shot very much-that cool leading line. I totally think the man walking across adds to it. He was helping.
See you next week. I've written the next song in big ass letters on a post it. This helps my overly full mind. Happy day to you, oh and I like those big icon images. Nice.

  18. These tracks go on forever! Love the black and white, the lines and that sense of endless travel! I love the guy walking across the tracks...cause, for me, I tend to be so focused on things sometimes that I can't believe there's anyone else in the world who isn't
'on board' with me...he's a great reminder that we've all got our own roads to travel and homes to find! Excited to be joining in your link up!!

  24. What a great meme...unfortunately, I've been in a bit of a funk lately about taking photos. I think it's the ongoing deluge of rain we've been dealing with here in the south, for what seems like 'FOE-EVAH' at this point! I'm really bummed about our bummed-out summer, and it's already half way over.

  28. What a fun thing to do on a Sunday morning (especially when husband provides coffee AND is listening to my guffing an puffing) ...congratulations Kathy on your great idea. Your shot is womderful and I like the B/W...I should use it more often.Good that your other half was on the look out while you were taking the picture....sometime they are quite useful.

  29. The photo you've taken alone could take up all the comment space - look at all those fabulous leading lines. And I agree with you about the unexpected advantage of the added human. I smiled when you wrote about your husband on duty! I've been looking through the photos people gave contributed - there's some clever ones there. Thanks, Renee.
