Field of dreams...

The week that was...

Sometime between childhood and adulthood, my perspective changed.  Not sure when that exactly happened.  But this is the time of year when dandelions magically morphed from suns to moons.  From an ocean of weeds, to a field of dreams and wishes.  Pluck a dandelion.  Make a wish. Cast it to the winds.  Keep a dream alive.  Somewhere along my journey, my morphing abilities disappeared.  Poof.  Gone with the wind.  All I saw were weeds that meant someone wasn't being a very good neighbor.

But last week I saw things a bit differently.  I dropped Thing #3 off at her voice lessons and was driving home when a sea of cotton balls caught my eye.  These were definitely NOT weeds.  It may have been the way the sunlight was hitting the multitude of moons.  It may have been I was living dangerously by not keeping my eyes ON the road instead of wandering.  It may have been my perspective on a few things kinda changed last week so I was open to possibilities.  It may have just been dumb luck.

Regardless, the dandelions called to me.  It had been a LONG time but...I listened.  This was a field of dreams where wishes are made.  And you betcha I put one, or a few, out into the universe courtesy of the wind.  And when I was finally done, of course I took a few photos.  There are just SOME things I can't morph out of.

  2. Strange how yellow dandelions don't appeal to me, but when they are whispy and white and can blow their seeds and do the most damage is when I love them most.

    1. Yep! We just use to pop the heads off them when they were yellow. But they became magical when then turned into puff balls.

  3. Hello gorgeous!!!! My mother is hilarious - she sees a dandelion, it get's yanked. She begged us to pull over once on the highway so she could "kill" a field of them!

  6. Beautiful photo ! And I love dandelions at any stage -yellow means spring and cows out on the meadows (and producing great butter!) and white puffy fluffballs to blow into the wind!

  7. Field of dreams .... if you build it they will come.... and I know you know that reference. :)
I honestly find even the weeds beautiful in the right lighting for sure- even the golden-rod or ragweed- so bright yellow!! And my daughter has been picking & giving me dandelions lately, saying "Here is a beautiful flower I picked for you mommy" - and to me, they are the most beautiful b/c it came from her!

  8. It's funny that a yard in the country can look its best with various wildflowers/weeds growing amongst the green lawns, but in the burbs....no way! Green carpets rule. Field of dreams is spot on!
