"Laundry Day"
Riomaggiore, Italy
I think every day is laundry day in Italy. Unlike MY house where I tend to stock pile it. I venture to guess that if I hung my "Things'" freshly laundered clothes out the front window of my home it wouldn't look so quaint and picturesque. Actually, I'm pretty sure our homeowner's association would be knocking on my door in record time.

Haha, my kids are the ones that would stock pile and then need it yesterday...but that is how my daughter got the pleasure of doing her own. I would be afraid I would drop it from the window before it got on the line...and that would just be too much work to have to go get it! ;p
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
In my early days of living in Paris, I hung some clothes out our courtyard window....I thought that's what all Europeans did. Well, a couple of days later a letter from the Police arrived in my mail box. Yes, the REAL police...not the neighborhood watch or any home owners group... the very serious french POLICE! Tale #143 of what happens when you move to a foreign country! That said, I love the light and color in this shot - and know that my laundry would never look quaint hanging anywhere!
ReplyDeleteAdrienne that is too, too funny! Hmmm...and why don't you ever see "thongs" hanging to dry in Europe either? I know they wear them, I've seen TOO MANY on the beach! :)
DeleteYour dry sense of humor and your quaint observations not only make me laugh, but perk me up. It reminds me that there is humor in even the most boring or perturbing situations. I enjoy my visits to your blog and have passed on an award to you to show my appreciation. Stop over and pick it up ... you are under no obligation, just know that you deserve it.

What is it about Italian laundry that looks so much better than American laundry? Love it!!
ReplyDeleteI hang out clothes certain times of the year. I hide my "things" in on the middle lines. That season is coming up. It's usually around the time of year when I don't need the a/c and the windows are open. It's my favorite time of year. No HOA to worry about. The downside to no HOA is the neighbor who put up an above ground pool with no privacy fence.
ReplyDeleteLove the photo!
What is it about laundry hung out to dry in Italy just seems so natural. I was hoping to see a shot like this. It's synonimous with Italy.
ReplyDeleteSo classic!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great shot...hanging laundry in Europe always looks beautiful and picturesque. Why is that?? :)
ReplyDeleteI have a variety of laundry shots from Cuba too. Did I get to them yet? No....laundry list is down the line (pardon all the puns). Love the vibrant colors both in building and in the clothes. This is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteBeing green without even realizing it!
ReplyDeleteHaha! You crack me up! :)
ReplyDeleteI ♥ it .... such a classic shot!!!!
ReplyDeleteWith my luck, if I hung my clothes out to dry .... a pigeon would sit on the clothesline and ... well .... you know the rest!!!! :-D
LOL! Too funny and very true! It's amazing how beautiful it can be in Italy though!
ReplyDeleteIt is funny how different our cultures are. What a wonderful photo. I so want to go to Italy. And I am so enjoying your photos..
