"First comes thought;
then organization of that thought, into plans and ideas...

Lately I sit here. Struggling with both my photography and blog. I could sure use some new ideas and plans. My thoughts are in dire need of a good kick in the imagination!

I love your cover photo! (Tree blossoms.) I haven't read your blog (just came here via Wordless wednesday-related link somewhere), but a couple of thoughts: Look through your photos for a common theme, either in feeling (emotion) or in texture or in colors or in content and put together a project or two and display them all at once. Or make dyptychs or triptychs out of some of them. I'm working on that right now. Also am working on some longer-term photo projects, such as photos taken while riding in a car. Photos of my sister. Photos of windows. Makes me think about how I can do better or different with each photo of a similar subject, similar location, etc. Would love to hear if you've already done things like that or if you post things like that. And if all else fails--pick a random number and choose a topic each week from this list:https://photographyicon.com/photography-themes/ (not mine, but I use it for my photo club's monthly theme sometimes). Good luck!
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas..thank you.
DeleteI would ask, what do you want to achieve out of the blog? Is this for family record keeping or is it a hobby and if it's a hobby are you fulfilled at it? Go from there.
ReplyDeleteGood questions. I'm about to embark on year #4 of blogging...perhaps time to re-evaluate.
Deleteblogging, photography anything crafty....comes likes waves to me. I'm coming out of a MAJOR creative mental block but i've decided...good, bad or indifferent...I'm showing up daily...even if it's 10 minutes and nothing perfect or even good comes out of it...I don't like NOT being creative. I don't know if this helps...but I feel your pain. xo
ReplyDeleteYes, it def comes in waves for me too. I feel I'm stuck in low tide, haha. "Just Show Up" is a great mantra.
DeleteYou are so wonderful at crafting stories from your photos. Just keep shooting and sharing!
ReplyDeleteThank you Tamar.
DeleteKathy you do a great job with new ideas and your photography is always just wonderful. Sometimes we just have times that it is hard to think of new things and new ideas to explore. One of the things that I love about my blog is being able to look back and see where I was and what I was doing in the past, sort of like a family record. I think that is one of my favorite parts of blogging and of course the new people that i have met. My photography gets me out when I might not have been doing anything, so that is always a good thing.
ReplyDeleteYes, my original purpose to blog (4 years ago) was to make me accountable to pursue photography. Force me to get out. Perhaps I need to go back to the beginning :).
DeleteThis is a great shot! I have to admit I have a backlog of photos that would last for a year of posts, at least.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteKathy you may "feel" stale, but I love your photos. They always make me realize that I missed some of the wonderful-ness of the Philly area when I lived there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing at https://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2016/05/getting-ready-to-play.html
Thank you Sue...you are too kind :)
DeleteFirst, love the photo and the thoughts. Totally agree. Secondly, I share the sentiments. Struggling for the margin of time to imagine anything, much less create. Hoping summer is the perfect remedy.
ReplyDeleteI love your images. I think you have an excellent eye. How about an A - Z challenge. So create an image for each letter of the alphabet but this site is also excellent for inspiration and ideas https://dailypost.wordpress.com/photo-challenges/
ReplyDeleteMollyxxx

RE: Dresden --It is such a testament to the dedication of those who had vision to hang on to those piles of rubble, for decades even, with the hope that one day the city would rise again. It is inspiring and at the same time my heart breaks that it even had to happen in the first place!
