Song-ography, the "It's My Life" edition...

EVERY year come March I promise myself the same thing...I'm going to hop in the car and make the drive to our Nation's capital to see the cherry trees when they blossom.  And EVERY year...something comes up.  I miss time the peak blooms, it's too cold and rainy, the Things have commitments on the calendar that I don't want to miss, I'm too tired, there's a an episode of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" I just can't miss. Yada, yada, yada.

"It's my life
It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive
It's my life."

-It's My Life (Bon Jovi)

"I Ain't Gonna Be Just a Face in the Crowd"
Cherry Blossom Festival
Washington, D.C.

But THIS year?  It was now or never. I hit the open highway and three hours later was in D.C. crossing off a 'to do' on my bucket list.  Felt good. I only missed the peak blooms by 2 days, so I consider that a success in my book.  The weather was sunny.  I didn't go on a weekend, so the crowds weren't TOO bad.  And I took LOTS of photos (more will be coming this week, so check back!).

As for this guy in the photo?  I seriously have NO EXPLANATION.  I'm SURE there is a story here, but for now it's a mystery to me.   If anyone is familiar with the significance of this cloak and gold chain I would love to be enlightened. But for the time being, he's just another face in the crowd enjoying the cherry blossoms along the tidal basin in Washington, D.C., like moi.  Except, And got there at a MUCH younger age than I did! But that's okay, like Frankie said "I did it my way".

  3. I love DC. I've been there just as they were starting to bloom but not for the full-on spectacle. It's on my to do list. I'm curious about that guy now too.

  4. We've got cherry blossoms here in Toronto as well but it will be a couple of more weeks until they appear.

DC is such an amazing city and you do see some odd characters. Sure hope someone can shed some light on this dude.
