"I'm gonna soak up the sun
While it's still free
I'm gonna soak up the sun
Before it goes out on me."
-Soak Up the Sun (Sheryl Crow)
"Soak Up the Sun"
Las Vegas, Nevada
"Soak up the sun" has become my mantra. Ever since the doc called me, a few weeks ago, to give me the results of some recent blood work. "Whoa! You need to soak up some sun STAT girl! " Or, maybe she said something kinda close to that like..."you need vitamins". Seems the old Vitamin D levels are rock bottom. Like BELOW rock bottom, somewhere in China if I dug deep enough. Somehow, the Better Half doesn't think I'd be able to get the insurance company to cover a summer home in the Sunshine State, due to medicinal purposes. So until I get that worked out, it looks like I'll be poppin' the prescription strength Vitamin D caplets for the next few months to load up. AND, I've been told to drop everything and head outdoors to soak up some rays 20 minutes a day...doctor's orders, I SWEAR!

ReplyDeleteWhat a hoot! The mustache kills me! Great shot!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness you are going to feel so much better after getting the Vit D up. I had that test done last year! Best thing ever...well, almost.
ReplyDeleteI hope so! I've REALLY been dragging the past few months. I've been on it for 3 weeks now, and finally had the energy to DRAG myself back to the gym yesterday. My jeans are thanking me :)
DeleteYes, the good ol' sun is back and we all need a daily dose. This fella sure looks comfy.
ReplyDeleteGreat pic! Vitamin D, huh? Well, I have been trying to get those levels up now for months. No prescription strength ones for me, but still. And the sun feels so much better than eating pills.
ReplyDeleteWe finally had a nice day yesterday, 10 minutes outside I felt like a new woman!
ReplyDeleteLove that shot and looking forward to a little more of that sun coming to texas . Pretty rainy here. You might also go and get some of the vitamin d at the store. Just in case.
ReplyDeleteGREAT! Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeleteI shoot this picture and my entire family disowns me - I so envy your street / pool photography. If I were a betting woman, I would put big bucks down on odd that everyone is scrapping the barrel in the Vit. D department. I do like your thoughts on insurance pitching in on the Fl. home.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, isn't this guy exquisite with all his "details"! :) Luckily, I was by my lonesome. Otherwise I would surely have been reprimanted by my teen, haha. And yes, apparently Vit D deficiencies are running rampant. Part to blame is everyone's desire to stay out of the sun. Sunblock blocks not only the sun...but the Vitamin D too.
DeleteImpressive stash. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem a few years ago and was on a high dose prescription vitamin D...and if the rain doesn't stop here I'll probably need more. This has been the cloudiest, rainiest spring I can remember. It's so overcast I have to turn on the lights in my house just to see!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, what a "soaking up the sun" capture...and that mustache, lol!
My doctor started me on Vitamin D about six months ago also. Most people do not get enough sunshine which of course is a main source of Vitamin D. I had to back off of the D because it upset my stomach. Still taking it, but only half as much. Rainy here this spring as well, but when the sun does pop it's head out from behind the clouds I escape outdoors to feel a bit of it on my skin... xox
ReplyDeleteAwesome shot! I am Vit D deficient too (or I was a few years ago, haven't had it checked in a bit). I try and soak up some sun when I can..it's been so gorgeous out (until today!).
ReplyDeleteThat "dude" is really soaking it all up. Great shot. Sorry to hear about the Vitamin D problem. Thank goodness you found out and are able to take the medication to correct the problem.
ReplyDeleteThank you, luckily it is an EASY fix :)
DeleteI just want to lie on the beach and soak up the sun... Where is the summer? ;-)
ReplyDeleteFantastic photo!!
ReplyDeleteWe are lucky enough to escape winter for sunnier climes the last three years.
Get out and soak it up!
This guy is very very cool with all his fanciness. Hope you get time on the patio to recharge those D levels. Glad it is at least a fun prescription!
ReplyDeleteBored of me yet? *laughs... again, feel free to ignore but I also thought THE SEEKERS "I'll Never Find Another You" might work at some point
ReplyDeleteMollyxxx
Why am I not surprised you got this photo in Vegas. Fun shot!
