"Song-ography, the 'Thinking Out Loud' edition...

(my late and inexpensive Valentine sentiment for the Better Half)

So, I'm thinkin' out loud here.  Thirty-three years ago they said "It wouldn't last."  Actually, that MIGHT have been moi doing the talking.  Because you might be surprised to learn...I'm just not that easy to put up with.  As usual, the Better Half proved me wrong.  Getting a little tired of that!

" 'Cause honey your soul could never grow old, it's evergreen...

"Evergreen"

...I will be loving you 'til we're 70
and, my heart could still fall as hard at 23
and I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways...

In MY case, it was when the Better Half chucked a bucket of water on me in college.  What truly IS mysterious is that I didn't immediately  hate on him for ruining my 1980's Farrah Fawcett 'do!  Instead?  I went out on a date with his friend.

(it's also mysterious how I fell for a guy with THAT hair cut!)

...when my hair is all gone and my memory fades,
I know you will still love me the same...

Never fear.  Even if dementia strikes me down (and you KNOW I test myself daily!),  I will STILL remember you threw that bucket of water on me! But that's okay, because I made you cut your hair.  WINNING.

...Maybe just the touch of a hand
Well, me - I fall in love with you every single day."

Not too shabby for a pair who aren't overly romantic in the traditional sense.  What says romance to moi via the Better Half?  All the little things. All the every day things (disclaimer:  he is good at the grand gestures too).  Coffee brewing, coming downstairs in the morning to find no dirty dishes in the sink, asking "do you feel like getting me a pint of Ben & Jerry's?" and the Better Half understanding it really isn't a question, being a great dad, having a kind soul, thinking of others before himself, constantly proving me wrong...getting rid of the mullet (because he KNEW I was right about THAT!).  When it comes right down to it, I am extremely blessed.  I can't help but believe he feels short changed...EXCEPT for the better hair cut.

...I'm thinking out loud
that maybe we found love right where we are."

-Thinking Out Loud (Ed Sheeran)

Happy Valentine's Day Better Half.  I was just waiting for the right time to give you your gift.  In the immortal words of Elvis and our first dance "I can't help falling in love with you."  Betcha were hoping I was gonna quote "hunka hunka burning love" tho, right?!?!

P.S.  I STILL have that V-Day card I haven't signed for you yet..up on the bedside table.  I'll just put it aside for next year.  Because I'm "frugal" like that.

Before you link up for this week's Song-ography, take a look at the song suggestion for next Tuesday.  Besides being an amaaaazing song to run to (seriously, try NOT to get energized by it), it's just a downright inspiring tun.  I give it a 9, it's got a good beat to dance to...

Thanks for joining in here at Song-ography.  If you have a song you'd like to suggest for a future Song-ography, please let me know.  Sometimes I am really up in the air and could use a suggestion.  Remember, songs are only suggestions...feel free to use your own if you have a photograph that works well.  Blog posts, Instagram, Flickr are all welcome to be linked.

  6. Too adorable. A relationship is everything they don't show on TV or in the movies. Love, true love, is when you survive past the lust and dreamy-eyed stage and realize that not only do you like this person, but deeper. Even with all their shortcomings - and if they are human they have them - you still have their back and enjoy their company. Romance in our household lies firmly with my husband --- and he got me a carpet cleaner one Christmas.

  13. Welp - you got a bucket of water thrown on you. Dream Boy farted on me in the car on the way home on our 1st date. His reasoning was to see if I had a sense of humor before asking me out again.
    (1) I laughed like a hyena - might have had something to do with the pitcher of beer I had consumed.
    (2) Isn't there an old saying that you'll marry someone who reminds you of your dad? If not, there should be.
That's my story & I'm sticking to it(I hope this didn't post twice, my computer is being wonky on me today)
