"Song-ography, the 'This is the New Year" edition...

"...speak louder than the words before you
and give them meaning no one else has found.
The role we play is so important
we are the voices of the underground."

-This is the New Year (A Great Big World)

"Speak Louder Than the Words Before You"
Prague, Czech Republic
IPhone

Some of you might have seen this photo on my Instagram feed during my trip in December.  It's one of my favorite shots from Prague.  I loved this little bit of English graffiti in the heart of Prague.  Really stuck out  amidst the foreign (to moi!) Slavic everywhere else.  I took some photos with my DSLR, and decided to grab one with the IPhone to post on Instagram.  The passersby were obviously oblivious to my photo attempt, and they might have been obviously oblivious to the message too.  I don't know.  But I liked it.  The shot resonated so much more with the pedestrians, than just the message itself.  Sometimes one must pay attention so as not to be oblivious to a message.  To speak louder than the words before you, you must first notice them,  in order to give them your own special meaning.

Life IS good.  Hopefully those who are oblivious to that truth, are far outnumbered by those who know this to be obvious. This new year,  my wish is that everyone finds their own special and unique meaning.

  2. The one wall in Czech Republic with English graffiti and you nailed it. (kidding - I'm sure there are others, but you nailed it with this shot) Very profound message in such a simple statement. Great post.

  3. such a perfect photo for your song prompt today Kathy. I have not been here for months ... I broke my foot and it took both hands and my good foot just to keep me upright! No extra hand for my camera :~) But now I can walk again! And I am so happy to be back!!

  9. Very nice. My mom would probably appreciate this one, some of her favorite things to photograph are signs that really seem to stand out to her at different times in her life.

  10. What a cool street art find. I regret not asking the taxi to pull over when we were traveling near the "wall" in Bethlehem. Great political commentary and human rights kind of street art--thought provoking and only in my memory, dang it!
