Got sails?...

Tall Ships.
a large, traditionally-rigged sailing vessel; featuring numerous sails used to steer and propel vessel forward.

So here's the thing.  I consider myself a pretty smart, on-the-ball kinda gal.  Most days.

But then there are those occasional blips.  Like when I heard tall ships were sailing to Philly for a weekend festival.

Because sailing implies "sails".  Big, white, billowy, blowing in the breeze, photographer dream,  type sails.  I'm smart like that.  Except...

...for when they are parked docked.  Total deflating of the whole "smart thang".  Not to mention the "oh sh*t!" that popped out of my mouth when I stepped out of the car.  "Connect the Dots"... probably should work on that.

Plan B.  Rigging is kinda cool.

And, the breeze WAS blowing.  Just not the sails.

Alas, no sails in sight.  For now obvious reasons.  Duh.  I still don't have those big,  white, billowy, blowing in the breeze, photographer dream, type sail photos.  There IS an obvious solution.  The Better Half needs to plan a Windjammer Cruise for us. Connecting the dots. WINNING.  And THIS is why I consider myself a smart, on the ball kinda gal.

Here's where I "link up" today.

  2. Well, I - for one - love the shots of the rigging. But then I also really love the bare naked trees after all the leaves have fallen....something about seeing the strength in the structure. Could it be that I'm the daughter of an architect??!! I also think Plan B and dot connecting show off our 'smahts' way more than getting it right the first time!

  6. There might have been no sails but the many, many lines created by the masts, the rigging and such are very interesting.

  7. We have a beautiful Tall ship of Texas - the Elissa - and most of the time she doesn't have her sails either! :) Still fun pics ..... (its me Kim) I'm signed into FOL and I'm too lazy to switch, lol

  10. I love the shots of the rigging! On a couple of these, the angle of your shot makes the sails almost visible - to my imagination, anyway. I love the juxtaposition of the old rigging with the airplane in the sky in the first one.

  11. Looks intriguing nonetheless! Plus, situations that either catch you off guard or are unexpected force you to experiment more and think outside the box! Which is good for artistic growth, right? :)
