...but you can envision.
"The Last Rose"
Ambler, Pennsylvania
Breaking the rules can sometimes result in a happy surprise. Just don't tell my Things I copped to that. It flies directly in the face of everything I've drummed into them their entire lives.
Rules say don't shoot a photo directly into the sun. This is the one rule of photography I love to break. And break often. The last rose of the season. The sun was so bright, I couldn't even see an image when looking into my camera. I was completely blinded. But I could envision it. I knew it was there, and that it was going to be a definite rule breaker.
The last rose of the season. But not the last rule breaker.
(disclaimer: only the complete lack of abiding by rules was used in the making of these photos...no textures or overlays were utilized)

Beautiful - and yep, rules are meant to be broken.
ReplyDeleteRules for kids are quite different than 'rules' for photos--they're more like suggestions :) Love your rebel ways!
ReplyDeleteMe? I'm a rule follower, always have been and probably always will be. But when it come to artistic expression, then hats to the wind and all bets are off. Kathy, keep breakin' the rules, cuz you do some amazing work when you aren't following. Love this photo essay.
ReplyDeleteTeaching makes me follow the rules but I love being a rebel and breaking them occasionally. These photos are a beautiful reminder!
ReplyDeleteYour rule-breaking captures the feeling of the warm sun and highlights the last rose against the soft fall foliage. It's beautiful.
