"Home for the holidays,
I believe I've missed each and every face.
Come on and play my music,
Let's turn on the love light in the place."
-Celebrate Me Home (Kenny Loggins)
"Turn on the Love Light"
"Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle,
and the life of the candle will not be shortened.
Happiness never decreases by being shared."
-Buddha

"Illuminate"
"Just as one candle lights another,
and can light thousands of other candles,
so one heart illuminates another heart and can illuminate thousands of other hearts."
-Leo Tolstoy
"Celebrate Me Home"
"Travelling is all very well if you can get home at night.
I would be willing to go around the world if I came back in time to light the candles
and set the table for supper.
I can not conceivably influence the world's destiny,
but I can make my own life more worthwhile if I can give some help to some people;
that is not vital to all the world's problems and yet I think if everyone did just that,
we might see quite a world in our time!"

Hoping everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and/or regular week...and you found some way to celebrate what "home" means to you. As for moi? I'm still cleaning up the remains and prepping for the onslaught of Christmas decorating and preparations that will soon get under way now that Thanksgiving is over. BUT, I'm not quite ready to commit to Christmas here at Song-ography...yet. Heck, I'm still eating my Thanksgiving leftovers. So how about an "off the beaten" path kinda song before we delve in to the holiday spirit. Next week's song is...
"Big Yellow Taxi"
Counting Crowes
As always, thanks for joining in on Song-ography. I am so enjoying seeing what you all bring my way each week, and I look forward to visiting your blogs.
P.S. You can now find me on Facebook. Please hop on over to You'll Shoot Your Eye Out and give me a "like".
Oh those candles are so lovely. They just have such a cozy, warm, "homey" feel about them. I love the holidays and being home for them is the best part.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pix! I am participating at your invite and I guess I'm rushing right into Christmas..LOL.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the challenge & fun. I spent quite a bit of time looking at photos of the people I hold dear and it was time well spent.
Smiles,
Kelly

kathy....only half of the house is decorated. as i cleaned up from our new roof/home repair project, i started to decorate. the picture of the tree, with the presents is from last year. is that cheating?? i will be able to finish today as the hubs helps!!
Deletei prepared this post before i left for the city. i am no wonder woman!!
Candles do welcome you in. I am clinging to the computer to avoid the next step of pulling out the Christmas boxes and stuff - ugh! The person who designs an umbrella tree with unbreakable keepsakes will, in my opinion, be worthy of a Nobel prize of mammoth proportions.
ReplyDeleteYour candles are so cozy and inviting. They say the comfort of home! I hope your Thanksgiving was everything you wished for. I hope Christmas is peaceful and stress free.
ReplyDeletePeaceful and stress free?!? I do believe that's an urban myth :)
DeleteSuch Beautiful photos.. I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving my friend..
ReplyDeleteHugs~

This is beautiful. And I really needed those quotes today. I find myself in a 'one day at a time' mode...and fighting to find anything that resembles the Christmas spirit. We'll start decorating next weekend...In the mean time, I'm going to hold on to that thought...of giving my help to a few people. Hugs. {and sorry to be so "late" to the party two weeks in a row!}
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! Glad your daughter made it home to celebrate the holiday.
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous and so warm.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos. I love the warmth and coziness of candles and the calm they inspire.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots of the candles. Love the bokeh in the first shot.
