To get up at twilight and wander the town of Stone Harbor before it wakes up...

To wander the beach as it prepares for the beginning of a new day...
"On Guard"

With only the sounds of waves and gulls speaking to me...
"Morning Has Broken"
Stone Harbor, New Jersey
And still make it back to the hotel in time to enjoy a breakfast under the morning sun...

...all BEFORE those teen-aged girls are even awake and out of their beds! I sure hope they are having as much fun as I am. I'll make sure to ask them they next time they need some money.
Please join me on Sundays for Song-ography.
This week's song title is Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run".
The gulls flying off? Amazing. Makes you forget they're devils with wings!!
ReplyDeleteTeens LOVE to sleep in late in the morning so that's the best time for a mom to enjoy her day. xox
ReplyDeleteha, isn't that a funny twist! beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteahhh...wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteThese are spectacular. Love the gulls with that bit of flare. I sure do love a bit of alone time. Glad you could enjoy a little independence.
ReplyDeleteLove the gulls in the early morning light. And I also love teen-aged people. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove dropping by and seeing your beautiful pics.
ReplyDeleteSea, gulls, colors and feeling.. everything is perfect!
ReplyDeleteOh my this looks beautiful. We are finally here and this morning we were greeted with some impressive rain, but the sun is shining now and we are about to head out of the city to see our friends
ReplyDeleteMollyxxx
Molly, I've been hearing about the rains and flooding. Amazing I'm only 1 1/2 hrs away and not a drop!
DeleteLooks like a great time of morning!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteWow, you're wandering in some beautiful spots early in the day and catching some phenomenal photos! I love, love, love "Morning has broken." I can hear the song as I look at your photo. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to do is explore the morning. Where ever I am I always do an early morning walk with my camera. Us mothers have to be very sly in dealing with those wily teenagers.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful day... I was born in a coastal town and so love this. Great and beautiful shots! Welcome to OBW and thank you for sharing these beauties with us. Hugs, Wendy
ReplyDeleteWhat a glorious start to the day!
ReplyDeleteHa! Perfect plan! Your photos are stunning!!!!!! That town is beautiful and I can just feel how calm and delightful it must have been to just wander.....Love!
ReplyDeleteLove those gulls!
ReplyDeleteWill now humming " Morning has broken" until I have to think about your Sunday song! Wonderful picture of the best time of the day... Early morning AND at a beach -simply perfect. Let the girls stay in bed!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of going to the beach is sneaking out early in the morning while everyone else is asleep and meandering down to the shore for a good long quiet walk (and pictures - of course, pictures). Great images.
ReplyDeleteYou sneaky (and clever) girl! These shots are wonderful. So love the Seagull shot and the one with the Boat, very dreamy. I'm afraid I'd still be asleep with the girls though as I'm not a morning person.
ReplyDeleteBut you CAN'T FOOL MOM!!!! Great shots...
ReplyDeleteNICE!!! And I am jealous of your quiet time!!! Early, early morning is the best!!! Aloha!
ReplyDeleteIt takes some seriously good reverse psychology to outsmart teenage girls, and it sounds like you nailed it! Great photos.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Kathy! I especially just LOVE your seagull shot. Looks like a great place to visit, and don't you just love that early morning time!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I love the shots, the feel and you embracing that quiet time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful feeling to experience this walk before everyone waking up :). Such pure and beauty!. Welcome and thank you for sharing these wonders with us at Our Beautiful World!. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the early mornings. Lovely shots!

Wow!! What fabulous photos!! Oh I loved seeing these - being in the UK it's fabulous for me to see new places ... Thanks so much for sharing this with us at Our Beautiful World!
ReplyDeleteBest part of the day is early morning and a walk along the Jersey shore can't be beat and that's what this native Jersey-ite thought after seeing these photos and some previous ones. I am a first time visitor who plans to return. We currently live on the VA eastern shore which when we first relocated here reminded us of NJ but not so much anymore. Love your blog title too. It reminds us of our favorite holiday movie and of course, Gene Shepard.
ReplyDeleteThank you! And yes you nailed it...blog title is from our fav Christmas movie "A Christmas Story"
DeleteBeautiful shots! I love the boat, the seagulls, and especially that wine glass out of focus. Was that the camera or you? :)
ReplyDeleteLOL - I have teen girls too.... so the giggle from me is totally with rolling eyes!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your photos - the 3 birds in a row... that's amazing. THey all are!
Beautiful pictures. I was wondering how you managed the boat shot and then my eyes focused and I realized they were on the sand.
ReplyDeleteTerrific shots. I love the gulls!
ReplyDeleteHope those sunny skies keep coming your way!
ReplyDeleteMoms are so smart and even smarter that they let their things think they got it all worked out without having to "told you so" them later.
ReplyDeleteYour photos get better and better and better-knock it off. I can't keep up. I especially like the beach scene with boats, but the light in the bird shot pulls a close 2nd.
beautiful words with your imagery, I love those private times and moments also
ReplyDeletewow that looks amazing
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. I love how easily you fooled those worldly-wise teenagers, lol! Nice pics. Thanks for sharing. :-)
ReplyDeleteEarly morning wanderings with my camera are one of my favourite past times. Love this series of photos.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, especially the one of the seagulls. I secretly look forward to my children being teens and not wanting to be spending every moment attached to my side :)
ReplyDeleteSound like typical teenagers. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was only the other day that I was telling a work mate about the pleasure of reading your blog, in particular (as related to the conversation) about the images you were showing and what I was learning about your part of the world. I also made the remark about your ability to take streetscape shots. As then you go and post this first photo - this is exactly what I mean!! And I love the seagulls shot too, beautiful. Renee
ReplyDeleteI love to get up before the kids and take pictures too. The quiet stillness of mornings is my favorite part of the day. Thanks for sharing these with us.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the sea so much - and the beaches! Gorgeous shots... can I come joing you?!
