The week that was...
"Plan B"
Stone Harbor, New Jersey
July 22 - July 29, 2013
Project 52 (30/52)
Plan "B". As in "Busted". A busted kneecap in particular. Kinda ironic that my plans got changed mid-week because my San Francisco-nian girlfriend broke her kneecap. Okay, I know I shouldn't laugh about this. But seriously. We were going to go to Jersey. Land of "The Sopranos". And she went and got her kneecap busted. Badda bing, badda boom. Well my good friend "A", you know I love ya. And one of these days I WILL introduce you to the delights of the Jersey Shore and the ocean on the right coast. But since I had a non-refundable deposit on a hotel room, it was on to Plan "B". As in "Better-Half", who tagged along to keep moi company for a few days in Stone Harbor, New Jersey.
Obviously not the same as a girls' weekend. Altho I DID pack as many clothes and pairs of shoes. The Better Half just doesn't like to gab NEARLY as much as the girls either. On the other hand, the girls don't pay for my dinner. Regardless, I will take spending time at the ocean on the right however I can get it. And it was nice to spend time with the Better Half sans Things and the other distractions that seem to control our daily lives.
But in the meantime, I do hope "A" is feeling better. And next time we plan a trip to Jersey...I hope she doesn't feel the need to channel her inner "Soprano" quite so aggressively. But I gotta appreciate the effort.

Now that sounds like it hurts. Great shot. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, bummer, no fun for your friend "A" cause you still got to go to the Jersey Shore and have your dinner paid for. Hope A heals shortly and maybe you can do a weekend before old man winter sets in.
ReplyDeleteAlways good to have a plan B close by....especially since he is paying for the dinner .Hope girlfriend will recover quickly and as a reward go for a week to Paris? Rome?Have a great week and am already thinking about your Sunday morning delight/ challenge!
ReplyDeleteI love your shot with the ocean and the "hint of umbrella". Great composition on this Kathy! So sorry about your friend and having to go to plan B.... but glad that your husband wanted to go and "fill in the gap".
ReplyDeleteI have been to Stone Harbor and it is a gorgeous place! Sorry about your friend, I hope she heals quickly. Have a happy week ahead!
ReplyDeleteOwie. What do the docs do for this? Crazily, this has never happened to me.
ReplyDeleteThe do say that the best laid plans can go astray but yours semmed to have survived lol Shame about your friend's knee - maybe next year.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't mind a few days on a warm sunny beach myself - our winter is dragging on forever
Take care

Kath, I totally get it, although having lived in New Jersey for seven years now, I have to say that there is so much more to NJ than the shore or the bada bing of the Sopranos. I live in the rural Northern part which is absolutely gorgeous and heavily wooded. Not the picture most folks have of my adopted state. I hope you had a great time at the shore! Bummer about "A's" knee.

TOTALLY agree with you about there being much more to New Jersey! It's a shame there arent more representations of this in our Media. Instead we get stereotypes like Sopranos, Jersey Shore, Real Housewives of New Jersey. BUT best tomatoes nd peaches everrrrrr :)
DeleteTerrific post...I'm new to your blog and just love the title! Be stopping by early and often!
ReplyDeleteThis is a shot that is just so stinking perfect that it leaves me asking myself if I would have 'seen' that. I suspect not - but damn if you don't manage to constantly inspire me to open my eyes and my mind to tell my stories with more creatively.
ReplyDeleteGetting a chuckle about the "Soprano" reference and hope your friend is recuperating well.
Well you know that you just have to be flexible.
ReplyDeleteI just may try Songagraphy - I'm intrigued.
I hope you do!
DeleteOw! I hope your friend's kneecap heals quickly! And glad you had a plan B in place, especially one that paid for dinner. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh no...the best laid plans. I hope your friend heals up quickly. I'm glad you still got to go with your Better Half - fantastic photo!
ReplyDeleteSometimes the hubster can be a good fill in and sometimes NOT♥ Loved your post.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that your plans changed at the last minute, but I'm glad you still had a good time with your Better Half! I love your photo. It's so relaxing and beautiful. I've been craving a beach vacation this year. :)
ReplyDeleteOh wonderful! Makes me eager to start my day.
ReplyDeleteHow ironic! Glad to hear you still got to enjoy yourself though.
ReplyDeleteThat was some timing for sure. I am looking forward to seeing the 'shore' myself soon though

Hope your pal is ok!!! Stone Harbor is so fun! We really never went there for beach time since we had a beach in our backyard, but that is my mom's beach from her childhood!
ReplyDeletePlan be sounds good to me. I would have loved being there with you. It's been a long time since I've been to the beach anywhere.
ReplyDeleteThis is told so hilariously, and your friend has my sympathies. Glad the trip was redeemed, and that you got your meals paid for. It looked fab on Instagram!
ReplyDeleteYikes - that sounds painful!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your friend, but it looks like you had a fantastic time! Bada-bing!
ReplyDeleteOh, sounds painful! :(
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo! <3
How unfortunate! I do like the alternative option though....a lot!
ReplyDeleteGlad you still got to have a week at the beach. Hope your friend is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteThis photo is postcard perfect...i'dve hung out with you happily!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry plan A fell through and -- your poor friend. She must be in pain! The composition of this photo is great, with part of the umbrella and the bright blue water. Beautiful! Hope you had a good time. Sometimes plan Bs turn out to be better than you imagined!
