Suppose to...

The week that was...

"Summer Thunder Boomers"
The Blue Route, Philadelphia
June 24 - July 1, 2013
Project 52 (26/52)

1.  It was an ominous start to what was suppose to be a weekend getaway to Nashville, TN.

2.  Frankly, I am suppose to know the dreaded summer triple threats of "Hazy, Hot, and Humid" often cause disruptive late afternoon thunder boomers here in Philly.

3.  I suppose I should have known better than to book the LAST flight out of Philly to Nashville during the summer months.  Quite frankly, I NEVER do that.

4.  En route to the airport I asked the Better Half suppose our flight is cancelled?"  He answered, "suppose it's not?".  I suppose he should know by now I'm usually right.

5.  How are we suppose to kill a three hour flight delay in the Philadelphia International Airport?

6.  I suppose the Philly airport opened up a cute new wine bar just for me!  But who would suppose our bill would wind up costing us $125 for the two of us?

7.  Yes you supposed right, our flight was cancelled.  I just supposed they would be able to get us to Nashville early the next morning.  I supposed wrong.  The good news is our parking bill at the airport was minimal...therefore we could pay our wine bill.

8.  We went home.  Our luggage went to Nashville.  I suppose they enjoyed the weekend getaway.  I will ask them whenever they decide to return home.

9.  What is it they are suppose to say about "best laid plans"?

10.  Addendum:  It's now been three days and the luggage is nowhere to be seen.  I REALLY miss my favorite shoes, "Insanity" workout DVDs, and my eyebrow tweezers.  I don't suppose USAirways is giving them frequent flyer miles for all their travel.

11.  And one more JUST BECAUSE...USairways customer service SUCKS, no "supposed" about that!

  1. Oh yuck - I hate to count the times we got stuck in NY or Phili in these summer months...mostly when we had little kids, of course! Sorry about your missed trip...

  4. So sorry about that fiasco, and also that your luggage is lost! hope it decides to return home soon. Wine should have definitely been free for the hassle that you went through

  5. It always baffles me how luggage goes somewhere even when the humans' flights are canceled!?! I mean, really!!

There is a Gap in the airport, right? That's where I'd be!!

  6. My son was supposed to be in Colo Springs for a Navy Reserve trip, but it didn't happen because of weather. His luggage is in Chicago. So I can relate. :)

  7. I remember one of the Philly weather guys on tv calling them T-bumpers! I think I would have cried more over a $125 bill at the bar than my canceled flight. USAir does such and I'm sorry your luggage is in their hands. I wish it all the best!

    1. Thanks Kerry. Hate to admit it BUT...it's a photo from my Iphone. Luckily the Better Half was behind the wheel so I could try to time a shot between windshield blade movement. Lots of "noise" in the shot, but it seems to work well for giving it texture. I just amped up the color vibrancy on Photoshop.

  10. I think the saying goes "the best laid plans with US Airways will go astray". I'm sorry about your cancelled plans. Hope your luggage has a great time trekking around North America. Maybe they'll send postcards.

  13. that's a long time for them to find and deliver your luggage. Hubby returned from a trip to Russia last week and it took Delta Airlines 48 hours to get his luggage to him. Three days for yours is totally ridiculous!!!

  16. Oh my, this is absurd. I mean I laughed cause you are funny you know, but this sucks, really. I hope your shoes were having too much wine on their round trip and bring back some babies of their own. What girl will say no to cute pumps?

  17. Is it ok to say, under the unfortunate circumstances that you were in, that my first impressions of this post was that of a painting. It simply looked wonderful - well done. I'm really sorry that your weekend that didn't turn out as a proper weekend at all. I'm thinking you and your husband had to 'count to 10' (as we say in Australia) more than once. It must have been such an awful feeling not knowing where your luggage was. Has it been returned yet? Renee.

  18. A series of unfortunate events... But the picture looks great! Was the wine any good at the airport? Oh - I can relate to the fact that yout favorite shoes are wandering without you.I am still waitimg for some luggage which got lost when Heathrow opened the new Terminal 5! That was a couple of years ago! I am sure you will have more luck.

  20. Ugh. There is nothing worse than airlines & airports anymore. It used to be nice to travel... NOT anymore. I hope you got your luggage back by now! (p.s. our baseball teams are sucking wind lately!!)

  21. Ok...here is to hoping that your luggage comes back to you sooner rather than later! I'm glad that you were at least able to drink a bit of wine with your husband! Life is annoying sometimes...good to see that you are able to throw humor at the situation! Have a great 4th lady!!

  22. Oh my ... I kept getting more and more goose pumps as I read your post (Can't get any worse, but yes, it could?!)
I hope you get the luggage soon - and some sunshine to go with!

  23. Oh my, do hope the luggage reappears! It's too hot here in the UK at the moment (well it is if you have fair skin like mine and look like an oven roasted tomato after more than 5 minutes in it...). Have found a scavenger hunt for the summer if you're interested http://gallorganico.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/2013-summertime-photography-scavenger.html
