The week that was...

Not sure who looks more distraught. The sculpture vs. Thing #2 after a couple of days of wedding venue visitations. Thing #2 flew in from Cincy for the choices. And the decisions. And the phone calls to the fiance'. Three days. Eight scheduled appointments. Two cancelled to not further confuse the issue. Power shopping...only fit for the fittest. But that's how it has to be when you are planning a wedding and the bride-to-be lives out of state.

What to do? What to do? Kinda makes me glad I was informed by my dad where my wedding was going to take place thirty-one years ago. It's just the beginning. I am having fun. And so is Thing #2 (she just doesn't realize it yet).
Well, I'm sorry i'm so far away from my daughter to not have been able to partake in the wedding venue frenzy! I'm glad ours is over and was completely wonderful...can't wait to be updated on the wedding plans....
ReplyDeleteThing #2 lives in Cincy. So that is why the decisions are being crammed in during her quick visit home.
DeleteOh, my. My husband and I had a very small ceremony, so I can only imagine all the decisions to be made for a larger affair. I hope it does become enjoyable for all involved.
ReplyDeleteOh it IS enjoyable now...just in an "overwhelming" sort of way :). Thing #2 lives in a different state...so it's sort of like "power shopping" while she is home visiting, haha.
Delete"Thing 2" Hehehehe
ReplyDeleteWeddings are hard work - - - sometimes I think it would be easier if they eloped. (I'm speaking as the mom of 2 married daughters and one married son - - - one single son left to go that path.)
Beautiful juxtaposition in "Phone Home" and I love the composition in "Verklempt".
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that you've titled your photos.
An art museum?? That sounds promising! I LOVED all the "overwhelming" moments we shared planning my daughters wedding...Hope you enjoyed your weekend together!
ReplyDeleteWedding stress...it's a very unique type of stress, isn't it? I look forward to this with my daughter...not. Well, maybe? Someday. lol :) Your photos capture the moments perfectly!
ReplyDeleteoh kathy, planning a wedding today is truly a full time job, one i hope you will enjoy. i don't have daughters, but i have neices and i was amazed at the work involved and the decisions to be made. my parents also "told" me all the details of my wedding. i was only 19, i did not know i could disagree!!
ReplyDeleteit's an exciting time, you captured the mood perfectly!! she is beautiful, like her mom!!
and go to longwood gardens, they are amazing. 365 days a year!!
ReplyDeleteIt might be tiring, but then again, most fun things are!
ReplyDeleteLove that first shot! I can only imagine the challenges of planning with a long-distance bride.
ReplyDeleteOh the fun has begun I see...remember so well.sigh! But so many good times ahead for both of you. BTW...love the Philly button on your header...very cute.
ReplyDeleteMy "Thing One" planned her own and went to Vegas. We all had a great time. "Thing Two" planned her own (see a pattern here) and had her wedding at our Renaissance Fair. That was fun too. I give you lots of bows for doing the planning and arranging yourself.
ReplyDeleteVerklempt! LOL...I say that all the time...ala Coffee Talk.
ReplyDeleteHang in there Mom of the Bride! The stress will be worth it! Memories will be made and cherished.
I always love your photos...I can feel her thinking and see her frustration in her body language.
ReplyDeleteShe's going to be such a gorgeous bride.
Verklempt, indeed.
I'm glad it's not me right now, I can hardly handle the going off to college thing right now. So many decisions, but it will come together - does she have a date set yet? Will we see you on say yes to the dress? haha
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are having fun....just try to not let her stress out too much already!
ReplyDeleteGood problems to have. It will all work out.
