Scavenger Hunt Sunday (4/14/13)...

Welcome to Scavenger Hunt Sunday, where the prompts are sometimes hard, sometimes easy...but always fun.  Well, I think they are fun AFTER I've somehow managed to find a photo for each one.  Up until that point?  Kinda frustrating sometimes. But I keep on coming back for more.  My name is Kathy and I'm a Scavenger Hunt Sunday-aholic.

It's been a crazy week around the old homestead.  And I can't even tell ya what has been keeping me from visiting all your blogs, just everyday "busy-ness".  The weather has been gorgeous which means "James Dean" and moi have been out and about. Happy, happy, happy.  Hopefully I'll get some of those photos edited this week to share with you.  But in the meantime...

This week's Scavenger Hunt Sunday prompts are:  Glow, Old, Spring, Shadow, and Smile.

1.  Glow

"Moon Dance"
Ambler, PA

We've had some interesting night skies here lately.  I need to work on HOW to take photos in these conditions.  I'm on the wrong end of the learning curve.  I guess a tripod purchase will be in my near future...a girl can only hold her breath for so long while snapping a shot.

2.  Old

"Vintage"
Lambertville, NJ

Why is vintage clothing kinda awesome...but hand-me-downs not so much?

3.  Spring

"Spring Showers"

Keeping my eyes peeled for May flowers.

4.  Shadow

"Tom Cat Cafe"
Sinking Spring, PA

My favorite little cafe' in Sinking Spring.  Crazy food concoctions that never fail make me say "I can't believe I ate the whole thing."

5.  Smile

"Everybody Gets a Ring"
Ambler, PA
Thing #2 and Niece #1

Lots of engagement rings...lots of smiles...lots of soon-to-be empty wallets.  (Betcha can't tell which one is the musical theatre performer, and which one is the chemistry teacher).

Thank you all for continuuing to stop by my little piece of the blog-o-sphere and taking the time to leave your thoughts.  I might not always have the time to comment back at you all...but believe me...I visit your blogs and so enjoy seeing what is going on in your world.  So thank you, thank you, and thank you again.

--Kathy

  1. I love visiting little corners of the PA world with you! And I'm so excited for you and all the celebrations to come. We had dinner tonight with our daughter, son-in-law and his parents. So much fun. We've been really blessed with a great "add on" family...wish the same for you!!

  4. Wow. So hard to choose a favorite but that moon shot needs to be printed, framed and sent to my house. I have just the spot for it.

  6. Amazing moon shot!
I learned how to take just the moon but I've never gotten it with clouds. Well done!
I had to smile at your comment on vintage clothes - isn't that the truth.
Three engagements - wow, happy happy girls!

  7. That moon shot is so good! What lens did you use for that one? Even with a tripod, my moon shots haven't been that big or nearly as clear as yours! And those clouds look like an oil painting. Fantastic job lady!

Stopping by from the Scavenger Hunt (I'm a SHS junkie too so no worries)

  10. These are all enjoyable and simply perfect for the prompts (yea, what gives with "vintage vs. hand-me-down"?) - but the winner winner chicken dinner is your daughter and niece with the rings - too, too cute.

  12. lovely photos! i know... i want a new tripod. one of my legs had broke & it can open up so tall. luckily is was cheap. blah.

i love hand-me-downs too. especially b/c one sis buys so many cutesy stuff and her in-laws have tons of never worn/tag on stuff. brady said we get by like that... i have two duffle bags to go through today. so fun! i do like vintage stores, too.

well, i rather have rain than snow. yes, i said snow... we haven't received any 60's weather and usually by late march we get some already. this is very crazy!!! south of us had an icy snow storm that is about to ask help from FEMA. so crazy! i'm fine w/ snow, but c'mon it's flipping APRIL!!!!!! two more weeks till may! so crazy!!!

  13. If that first shot was taken without a tripod, I can't imagine what you'd come up with if you used one! I think that image needs to have a song to go along with it. I'm thinkin'. One of these days, I am going to go scavenging, too!

  17. Very nice photo set. I have yet to try my hand at getting a really good capture of a full moon. Nicely done.

  18. Love the moon! I'm guessing the music theater performer is the one on the right. Ha! Am I right?

  19. Bahaha! I just snorted when I hit that last photo. Lord, help me! At least there are no tears! Beautiful moon shot. What settings did you use?

  22. I too am an addict. Whatchagonnado? Just keep on. No worries about visits. We all do the best we can. I am sporadic-it's that damn work thing! Geez.
I am not good at moon images even with a tripod (which I hate BTDubs). My fave this week is the vintage shot and yah, what's with that hand me down thing? Have a great day and hold on to your wallet.

  23. That moon glow shot is good.

I have a feeling that the woman facing the camera nad showing "ta-da" is the musical theater teacher. Congratulations to them both and to you.

  24. I love the pics of "old" and "spring." Your scavenger hunt post are awesome. Adds inspiration to the beginning of my week! I know who the chemistry teacher is...hard to mistake. She looks just like you. Hap-Bee Sunday!

  26. Great group of photos! I love the moon and know what you mean about holding your breath. (I recently got a tripod but still haven't tried it.) The vintage clothing sign photo is well shot. All of them are great.

  28. Wow that moon shot for Glow is just amazing. Moon Dance by Van Morrison is a very appropriate song for this shot. Stunning!

The shadow shot was also very appealing and I loved the excitement and smiles on those girls faces. Congrats to both.

  29. Fabulous submissions and the last one is totally cool! Your moon shot rocks for being handheld and holding your breath!

  30. Your photography is amazing! I would love to know how to take a shot of the moon! Several years ago we had one of the largest harvest moons I had ever seen... it just hung there almost touching the houses. I went to the train station to take a photo and even though I loved the shot for memory sake, it didn't even come close to what I wanted. You did such a great job depicting everything in the blog post... love your talent!

  34. I particularly like your moon shot - don't worry about the technical side, because I feel like you've got me standing right in front of it looking up and taking in the mood and the scene, which for me makes a perfect capture. Thanks, Renee.
