Best Laid Plans...

So this is pretty typical of my life.  Best laid plans gone awry.  But FIRST, a huge thanks to Vicki at 2 Bags Full for hosting the "Grow Your Blog Party".  I signed up for this little venture a couple of months ago.  The ONLY thing I had to do was to prepare a post for today, January 19th, to introduce myself to bloggers.  In my defense I did remember this...on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.  But by 1:45 p.m.  I promptly forgot.  I have a relatively plausible excuse tho. I had to take "James Dean" to the doctors (for those not in the know...'James' is my Canon Rebel).  So I've been James-less for a few days now.  I kinda feel like my boyfriend left town and I'm just suppose to sit home watching DVR'd episodes of General Hospital and eat me some Reeses Peanut Butter Cups.  Feelin' a bit abandoned.  I had no idea how much I relied on James Dean for entertainment.  No girl should EVER rely on a man (or a camera disguised as a man) that much...just sayin'.  So I haven't blogged for a few days now. Actuuuuually, I ventured out with the girls last night to happy hour...ahem...a SIX FREAKIN' HOUR "happy hour".  In part to forget about James  having fun at his spa resort (aka rehab facility) without moi.  So my best laid plans got swept under the bar stool.  But I'm here now, so everything is A-OK.

"A-OK"
Moi

If you want to read a bit about 'moi' check out the "about moi' (who said I wasn't creative?) in the tab at the top of my blog. A quick "sparks note" version:  I'm 50-something-ish, Philly gal, mom to Things #1 #2 and #3, always fashionable and sophisticated wife to the Better-Half, speaker of fluent sarcasm, late bloomin' photographer, closet writer, world traveler (if not in practice, then in my plans), baseball-aholic, Penn State proud, Win-o, closet reality show junkie, in public PBS aficionado, shoe snob, Italian wanna-be.  Oh...and I like Ben & Jerry's ice cream too....and cheese....just not together.  Welcome to "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out".

Since James Dean is in quarantine at the moment, and things are pretty bleak here in Philly this time of year...thought I'd open the vault and share some glimpses of Cannes, France from a few months ago.  LOTS of color and 'non' bleakness there. Not to mention Wine, cheese, and shoes.  But most importantly...COLOR COURTESY of CANNES:

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling a bit better now after seeing the sun and color.  Alas, no George Clooney tho. Think I can work this winter melancholy into another trip with the Better Half?  You KNOW my mind is already spinning with ideas.  But first and foremost?  I need my James Dean back...STAT!!!

Au voir...

--Kathy

  2. Eeeek, is James Dean okay! I really need to take Nicki in to be serviced, her sensor has a few measles. But they want to keep her for weeks and weeks, and well, weeks. How is one to be without that long? AND, where have you been hiding all of these?

    1. Can you believe I am just NOW getting around to editing so many of my photos from my trip! I think Jame's "issue" has to do with his light sensor. His shutter keeps stalling out on me. He is just way too slow on way too many occassions. Insert inappropriate "one-liner" here :)

  3. They are gorgeous -- and yes, I needed some greenery and bright blue seas.

    Hope James comes home soon.

  8. I DO hope James Dean returns home ASAP ready for action. I KNOW I would be lost without my camera. I've found much happiness with my Rebel and hope it doesn't require a stint at rehab any time soon.

  11. I love that shoe shot---the shoes, the colors, the DOF and all the hands reaching out at once for a shoe. Very cool!

  12. Those are cheery pictures. Oh those shoes - I am not a shoe snob, been ages since I wore much of a heel, but those I would even entertain buying. Wonder how they'd look with WalMart jeans? hehe!

Neat idea, this whole 'grow your blog' party.

  13. Thanks for the memories of France - so needed those beauties, especially the beach scenes on the gray, dreary Michigan winter day.
Hate being w/o the cam-man - went 6 weeks w/o my favorite lens last spring & that was killer enough!

  15. Wish I were there under one of those fabulous umbrellas and then going back to my room with the blue painted doors with one of those bouquets of roses and wearing those shoes. I can dream can't I? Great photos, love your blog! xx

  16. Paging Dr Ross, paging Dr Ross... :O) Hope it was nothing too serious with James, I know I felt totally bereft when my beloved 7D had to go to hospital (but talk about service, they collected it by courier on the Monday and delivered it back to me by courier on the Wednesday!). And you actually did better than me in remembering the blog party at all, I'd completely forgotten until yesterday when someone left me a comment saying they were dropping by from it - cue some hasty editing of last blog post :O))

  17. I love the "portrait" shot of the umbrellas- that is something I would expect to see in "Traveler" magazine - very cooool. :)

  18. Loved your post Kathy. I believe I'd feel every bit as abandoned without my iPhone. But here's the thing... she's a girl. Love the seagull shot.

  19. Hi Kathy. Visiting your blog from the Grow Your Blog party. Loved the name of your blog... my all time favorite Christmas movie. I remember going to see it when it came out in 1983 on a blind date that my mom set me up on! LOL! I love photography too, and it looks like your a fun girl, so I became a follower. I too am trying to learn my camera's manual settings, and it's 2 years old! Wishing for a DSLR now.
