Hot Time in the City...

With the temps we've been having here in the Northeast this summer, who would have thunk I'd have to go to the Mediterranean to cool off??!!??  Yeah well, that was a totally stupid idea I tried to convince myself of.  But when the only vacay time that works with everyone is AUGUST well, rationalization and denial will only get you tons of bad hair days and a growing butt from all the gelato I consumed to cool me down.  But I am proud to say I never once complained about the heat.  It could have been a lot worse...I could have been in PHILLY instead of Spain, Italy and France mopping my brow.  Actually I don't think they sweat in France, and if they do they would never admit it.  It was definitely a hot time in the Mediterranean cities, and everyone was trying to keep their cool in various ways...

Vatican Square, Vatican City

Pompeii, Italy

Rome, Italy
(Thing #2)

Cinque Terre, Italy

And one more because....well....sometimes you just have to take photo to prove you actually DID see something.  Yes it was hot, and yes I now have a fairly substantial collection of photos of men in Speedos who really should NOT be in Speedos.  It's like when you pass an accident and you know you really shouldn't look, but you just can't help yourself.  Doesn't he know BLACK is much more slimming, not to mention timeless in that it will never go out of style????

I have soooooo many photos to go thru and edit from my trip.  An abundance of treasures to share with you.  Fun stories and insights.  And yes, I chose to pick out a Speedo photo as one of my first to post.  One of my favorite travel sayings is "If you don't at least once think 'WHAT have I gotten myself into'...then you aren't doing it right."  Well friends, I think I did it right after seeing this guy and burning my retinas as a result.  Ya just GOTTA love it, well...as long as you aren't this guy's wife.

A hot time in the city, for sure.

  1. Okay - so maybe this guy's wife thinks he's hot? We can pray for her.
Or you can look on the bright side & be thankful it's a speedo & not a thong!?!?
I'm enjoying my virtual vacation through your lens!
    TFS!

  2. Men have no shame...

Looks like you had a wonderful time over here in Europe. (You must have been roasting in the Bay of Naples - my friend went in June and said it was too hot to think back then). I can't believe you didn't come over to GB and take a peek at that little sporting event we were hosting! :O)

I love that shot of Vatican Square (although again - Rome in summer is not somewhere I could cope with), beautiful light and movement in the water. Welcome back to blogland Kathy - look forward to seeing many more of the photos.

  5. Well, it looks as though you were near the water at some point ! I went to Europe in July one year, and the coolest time was traveling over the Alps, as there was snow up there!
My sister used to say we should get bikinis and go to Yugoslavia where overweight people just don't care.....We could have gone to 'speedo-land' instead!

  9. Hi Kathy ~~ I love your Italy pictures. We love Italy and have seen most of it. Probably we have spent six weeks total there. Cinque Terre is one of my favorite places to go. The walking the paths above and linking the villages is just great.

Happy MidWeek Blues. :) Jim's Mid Week Blues

    1. I know what you mean, haha. Sort of like a swimwear version of Darwin's "Survival of the Fittest". I fall below bikini-woman, but a few rungs up the chain from Speedo man, haha.

  13. Love Patti's comment, at least he's not in a thong! Great one!

These photos are absolutely stunning! The Pompeii, Italy (lady w/ red umbrella) and Cinque Terre, Italy (lady sun bathing) are my favorites in this bunch. Lady sun-bathing is a seller!
