I walked two blocks from my Bed & Breakfast towards the Atlantic as the seagull flies, stepped on the hot sand, trudged under the Boardwalk, crested the dune and got my first glimpse of the Jersey Shore on Memorial Day Weekend...
"Wildwood"
Yep!!!! THIS is why I don't usually do Jersey on a holiday weekend. A beautiful kaleidoscope of color. But also a cacophony of humanity. LOUD humanity. Humanity with no sense of personal space. Fahgetaboudit. Just pass the earphones and Coppertone puhleeze.

Wowzers, that's a lot of people!
ReplyDeleteWow! Now that's a lot of beach goers...! This reminds me of Rehoboth Beach in Delaware, a place I love with its colorful crowds and boardwalk. Great photo!!
ReplyDeleteOh so true! But the photo effect is lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh those Wildwood days! Great shot.
ReplyDeleteWell that's because you were in the wrong place....you should have come with me! ;p
ReplyDeleteFabulous photo editing!! LOVE...
Wow, not my idea of a fun place to be; too many people, too much noise.........but, I love what you've done with the shot! One can "feel the heat."
ReplyDeleteAh, I just LOVE the edit you did on this! It looks like a Mattise painting, at least I think Mattise, maybe Monet! I just love the feeling of walking up the stairs and seeing the beach with the colors and sounds and just feeling at PEACE!
ReplyDeleteExactly the look I was going for :)
DeleteOh good heavens!!! This is the same reason we don't go a lot of places on a holiday weekend. I like my holidays to be relaxing & places like that are anything but. :) At least you could smell the ocean air-
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo....horrifying beach day though! I love the processing.
ReplyDeleteIt really does look pretty, just way too crowded for me to relax. Great picture!
ReplyDeleteLove the picture but I am amazed at the number of people. I never saw such a crowded beach!
ReplyDeletei ADORE the jersey shore, during the off season. i wouldn't even bother with these places during the summer if not for the sausage sandwiches ;)))
ReplyDeletei live here and i don't go!!
Oh my? You are kidding right? I lived in coastal places all my life and have NEVER seen the beach like that. I guess another thing is that I've never seen that much "beach" either. So maybe down here the water comes in a lot farther. I don't think I would be able to relax. We can usually pic a decent spot and still be able to see the water and watch our son play.
ReplyDeleteWildwood is known for its unbelievably wide beach...it is crazy! We don't usually go to Wildwood. Avalon and Stone Harbour are tagged beaches and much less deep and congested. I've never seen a beach so packed!
DeleteWhat a cool photo. I just love your editing.. And I thought the west coast beaches were crowded.. That looks insane..
ReplyDeleteHugs~
Even in CA we don't get the crowds like that! great colors tho!
ReplyDeletea familiar sight. i haven't been to the jersey shore on a holiday weekend in years. now i remember why!
ReplyDeleteGreat picture! Love the glass effect :)
ReplyDeleteBut that many people does give me anxiety. I have lived in NJ my entire life and I dread going to the shore in the summer LOL. And the ride home on the parkway.... Oyyyyy!
Great painterly effect here, in fact great shot - but what a nightmare!
ReplyDeleteI love what you have done with edit. Fantastic shot. I don't think I could stand that many people around me.
ReplyDeleteWhat??!! That's crazy! I'd feel as dizzy as your shot looks. Nuts!
