What I will leave behind...

OR, perhaps more appropriately stated .... "What my behind will leave behind".

The New Year is rapidly approaching which means my slovenly ways will soon be departing.  Auf Wiedersehen, Au Voir, Sayonara, Hasta La Vista baby.  Visions of ice cream cones will ONLY be dancing in my head and NOT on my behind anymore.  I am keenly aware the sweat equity to rid my hips of those unhealthy calories is soooo not worth the temptation.  I always allow myself to fall off the wagon this time of year, but it's time to climb back on the treadmill, spinning cycle and jump back into  the swimming lane.

Oh my, I can hardly wait!    << sarcasm alert.

I will NEVER be one of those people who says they LOVE to exercise.  Quite honestly, I downright loathe it.  I have NEVER felt a "runners high" and am convinced it's existence is an urban myth.  But it is a necessary evil because the best part of exercising for me is...when I'm done.  The sense of accomplishment makes me happy and fulfilled.  And fitting into my skinny jeans doesn't hurt either.

Time to get back to being the best I can be.  Even if it IS a pain in the butt to do so.  Hopefully, it will be a much smaller butt feeling the pain.

  2. Kathy, I absolutely DESPISE exercising. Hate it! I do not understand the "high" behind it either and am convinced all exercising people must brainwash themselves into loving it. That said, I do need to get off my, ahem, er ... backside, behind, arse, and get out there and get moving again (like it or not!), because after all, it is an important part of being and remaining healthy, darn it! Bummer . . .

  3. I completely agree! Exercise is such a chore, and it's much more fun to enjoy an ice cream vs an hour of squats and lunges.

That said, I've been going to the gym 3x a week for a while now, and am working toward my skinny jeans, one sore muscle at a time.

  4. Exercise has always been a part of my life but when I tipped the mid-century mark I began to hurt in places I didn't know I had . . . and all I did was have a nap . . .

  5. Ummm- yeah- right there with ya! I despise exercising & will find any excuse I can to get out of it- even cleaning is better than exercise. So I need to find ways to fit it in when I think I am only having fun- I tend to get more in during the summer when I can swim- other than that- my recumbent bike collects dust sad to say. Because of this problem I have- I am far larger than I would like to be- need to decide what I hate more- being heavy or working it off. :D

  6. I USE to love exercising...not so much anymore. I wish I had a walking partner....that I do love to do. But I do hear you..think of it as a life style change....it helps!
    Good Luck Kathy!

  7. I am happy to say that I am finishing the year at the same weight I started...but sad to say I am still hanging on to the 6kgs I was hoping to shed...Maybe it has something to do with the lack of motivation towards exercising.

  11. Soft serve ice cream cones from Dairy Queen is my downfall. Also fudge-cycles. Fortunately I only gained 1.5 lbs over the holidays. I should be able to lose that in no time. LOL.
