Summer Lovin'...

...had me a blast.  But today I dropped my youngest off at the school bus stop which can only mean one thing...SUMMER SHOULD BE GIVEN A SPEEDING TICKET!!!  It arrives oh so slowly, and then zooms right by in a swoosh. Yep, I do believe that is summer fading into the distance in my rear view mirror.

"To see the summer sky
is poetry, though never in a book it lie."

--Emily Dickinson

So goodbye to summer's golden sunsets and lazy days, and hello to autumn's amber glow and new beginnings.  Thing #1 enters his last year of law school, Thing #2 tackles her final semesters of graduate work, and Thing #3 starts high school (how did THAT happen?!?!?).  And me?  Fall means football, sweaters, leather boots,  mulled apple cider, and a return to some semblance of order around here. I don't know about you, but I'm ready...bring it on.

  1. Fantastic use of the texture - it really does seem to say 'good-bye summer' . . . I think I will make a list of what I love about autumn and post it too - I enjoyed reading yours.

  2. It is a time for new beginnings and you just have to roll with that speed, not that we have a choice huh? I get so emotional in the fall. Beautiful photo.

  11. Hi Kathy ~~ I am glad for you that summer has left. I remember when we measured it on school terms. I too am ready for football. One thing, we don't end summer yet here in the HOT Texas. It will last a few weeks longer.

Are you taking bets on how much longer Thing # 3 rides the school bus? It seems they soon find 'car friends' until they drive their own.
