Can't believe this is my SIXTH Scavenger Hunt Sunday already. Geesh, the weeks keep flying by so quickly. I had serious time limitations this week, courtesy of Joe Paterno. Or, as us life-long Penn Stater's lovingly refer to him....God. Yep, Joepa the deity of the gridiron and Happy Valley. Tis college football season which means I am slowly morphing my sports obsession from the Phillies to the Nittany Lions. But September is particularly hectic because I follow BOTH fanatically. It's the perfect time of year to tailgate in Happy Valley because quite honestly, there are only about 3 good weekends of tailgating weather before the cold and rain set in...followed soon by snow and Uggs, yikes! So the grill is packed, along with all the various tailgating necessities and we are off for the weekend for lots eating, drinking and laughing (hopefully a few photo-ops will appear)....oh yeah, and some football too.
WE ARE...........PENN STATE!!!!
Okay, now that I got that out of my system, here are my photos for this week's hunt. And please, stop by "Ramblings and Photos" to check out all the other submissions, I'm always so impressed.
1. Stairs
"In Hercules' Footsteps"
Rome, Italy
I am sooooo glad I finally get to post this photo! Yes it is from the archives but it just fits perfectly with this week's "stairs" prompt. I have no idea who this little boy is, or where his mom was. I was in Rome on Palatine Hill, one of the most ancient parts of the city overlooking the Forum. Legend holds that at this location Hercules defeated Cacus the monster. Also, it is where the twins Romulus and Remus were born (did you know Rome got it's name from Romulus?).
It just cracks me up that in America, little children climb jungle gyms. In Rome, they apparently climb ancient ruins. "Hey Mom, I'll be outside with Giuseppe playing on the Colosseum!" When in Rome...
2. Clouds

2. Clouds
Not a cloud in the sky! Just blue skies, shining on me.

4. Macro
Ugh, this was tough because I don't have a true macro lens or a tripod. Sooooo, I just stood VERY close and tried not to breathe....OR eat my subject!
5. Smile
Why am I smiling? Because I fulfilled a bucket list wish Wednesday night! Yep, I actually got to see "Gone With the Wind" on a big screen in a movie theatre. My all-time favorite book AND movie. And I saw it NOT in one of those mega movie-plex theatres...but in an old fashioned movie house with ornate woodwork, gilded trim work, red velvet ropes and side balconies with lush drapes! Just like they saw the movie in 1939 when it premiered. I am so lucky to live in Ambler where we have one of these gems of a movie theatre in the 'hood. Because frankly my dear...I DO give a damn!
Hope you all have a wonderful week. Thanks for stopping by and as always, please feel free to leave a comment. If you find my photos and posts appeal to you, I would be so happy if you would consider signing up to follow "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out". Thanks again!

Oh, I took similar bubble shots before, and I thought about outer space, too, but yours are so cool with all the sparkles! Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThe stair shot is very fun--since it isn't my child!
Fantastic set!
OMGosh! How cool are your abstract shots! I am so going to try that one soon. I love how you didn't take everything so literally. Also LOVE your stairs pic!
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots as always - you're abstracts are inspired!
ReplyDeleteI love how your mind works, great set! And watching Gone with the wind in theatre sounds lovely, and with the lenght of the flick I assume super large pop corn was in order...
ReplyDeleteFantastic set, love your abstract shots, especially the second one, really looks like space. Gone with the Wind, how wonderful!

ReplyDeleteLovely shots. Your 'milky way' shot is absolutely eye catching! I love the way it turned out! Fantastic collection this week! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, the abstract shots. At first I thought it was a tornado in space, and then a wormhole and then some really fascinating macro of something I had no idea. So when I read the caption I was saying to myself "WOW! How creative!" and "I don't think if I put bubbles in the sink and used a flashlight my photos would turn out like this" :) So amazing! That's fantastic you got to see "Gone with the Wind" in the theater. A great choice for the bucket list! I love the stairs, too. It made me think about how other kids over the years have touched those same exact bricks! Pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteWell, once again a great series of photos. Not only are the photos a work of art, but your commentaries are always sooooo entertaining. I know I will smile or giggle at each one. Hope your football season is filled with lots and lots and lots of fun!! PS Your abstract shots were very clever, haven't figured mine out yet.
