How hard could it possibly be?...

Just buy some cute baby girl clothes, dress up the baby doll, plop her on a blanket, and click.  Right?

"Costume Change"

WRONG!  Grand#1 was awake.  Grand#1 was squirmy.  Grand#1 gave me a whole new appreciation and admiration for those who do baby photography professionally.  I bow at your feet.

But with a little help from Grand#1's mommy, we gave it a shot.  Okay, quite a few shots!

But after all the squirming.  All the quick shots.  All the "it's too dark in here".  All the "it's too bright in here".  All the "I need a glass of wine" moments...I think we got a couple of good ones for a NON-baby photographer.

The answer to the question "How hard could it possibly be?"...let's just say I promptly gave Grand#1's mom a check and told her to go find someone who knows what they are doing to make sure she gets some really good baby portraits.  Time goes too fast you know.  So does the patience of a newborn!

  2. I have been patiently waiting for your photos! Splendid and amazing, she is a beauty! I often think of doing newborn photography and thought it looked easy to do; dress up a cute blob with velcro outfits and pose them, but if not within the first few days when they are mostly asleep, it's an entirely different challenge!! They are beautiful captures, especially the last!!

  4. But these come with memories and stories to share and remind Grand#1 of as she gets older. These are none the less beautiful and who's to say the pros don't indulge in some "spirits" post baby session. 😄

  17. So beautiful! I have a friend who is a baby photographer. I call her the baby whisperer. It's quite amazing how patient you have to be and how long one session can take.

  19. You did a great job on this, and yes, I agree that it takes a LOT more that a cute outfit and a cute baby on a blanket. My first baby shoot, the baby screamed the whole time i was there with on seconds here and there where his mouth wasn't wide open. A big big challenge. LOL! Your grandchildren are just precious. Aren't they so much fun!!
