Philly From the Top...

...as seen from the One Liberty Observation Deck.

"Reflections of Philly"
One Liberty Observation Deck
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Opened in November of 2015, and currently the tallest standing structure in Philly...for now.  Of course, poor Billy Penn sitting atop city hall USE to claim that title too but was replaced by Ben Franklin.  A tale of dueling founding fathers Philly style.

"Ben Franklin's City"

"Don't Look Down"

"Afternoon Shadows"

57 floors up. 883 feet above street level.  360 degree panoramic view that stretches for miles and miles.  On a clear day you could see Trenton, I mean...if you really WANTED to see Trenton.  Or, you could just keep walking around the observation deck and look out 40 miles in every direction. I forgot how large of an area Philadelphia encompasses.  It truly is amazing.

"Jersey Over Yonder"

"William Penn in the Shadows"

"Afternoon Shadows Creep Across the City"
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

And if you are fortunate, or plan well...you can get a birds eye view of the city as afternoon shadows creep across the buildings and landscape below you, and the light changes from the golden hour...

"Golden Hour"

...to the pinks and oranges of the sun setting on the city of Brotherly Love.

"Rush Hour Sunset"
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

"Good Night Philly"

One Liberty Place and Ben Franklin better enjoy their height dominance for now.  In 2017 they will be surpassed by the Comcast Tower and it's top floor restaurant that will sit at 900 feet above street level. Gotta wonder what the city's founding father's would have thought as they walked the cobblestoned streets below.  Gives "everything is looking up" a whole new meaning.

  1. I like the time of day you chose to visit the top and the photography is beautiful. It seemed to be quite empty as well. Bonus. :)

  9. Kathy, what beautiful photos and perspectives. I have been to Philly many times but have never seen it from that height (unless you count the flights in/out)

    Very nice!

  14. These photos are fabulous!! I actually got dizzy studying the Don't Look Down shot. Why does it look like it goes off sideways?? I couldn't study it for long as I was really reacting to the photo! Great post!
