Song-ography, the "Hello" edition...

"...there's such a difference between us
and a million miles...

"Hello From the Other Side"
Ocean City, New Jersey

...Hello from the other side."
-Hello (Adele)

Took a quick drive to Ocean City, New Jersey this weekend.  The Better Half wanted to show me the house he rented for our family vacay this summer.  This photo is actually taken from the deck.  Pretty awesome right?!?!?  I think he's redeemed himself from the LAST get-away he was responsible for planning...our honeymoon.  Let me tell ya, he's been paying for that one for almost 35 years now!

The ocean.  It's only a 1.5 hour drive from my house.  I'm not sure why I don't do it more often because hellloooooo, the ocean truly is chicken soup for my soul.  And I always wonder when I look out to the horizon what IS on the other side? What are people doing directly due east from where I stand? Is there a couple over there walking their dog along the quiet and empty shoreline too?  Is there really such a difference between us?  Is someone over there looking out upon their ocean horizon due west and pondering the same thoughts about Ocean City, New Jersey?  Haha...the idea of someone pondering about Jersey kinda makes me laugh.

Interestingly enough, the "other side" from where I was standing lies somewhere between Lisbon and Porto, Portugal.  Ironic because it is NEXT on my list of "where in the world should I go".  So until I make a plan and talk the Better Half into it..."Hello from the other side" Portugal!

  3. We're definitely going to try and get to the beach more often. It is pretty darn close! Did you walk on the boardwalk? Looks like a SWEET rental!

  4. I took many trips to the beach last summer. There is something soothing about listening to the sounds of the waves as they wash upon the shore. It drowns out all the noise of the city. Lovely shot!

  6. I am the person on the other side - not in Portugal though but a little further up in France. Always think about who might be over there on the other side. Now I know.
If that is the view from your terrace it is going to be a truly amazing summer.

  8. Goodness it's been ages since I've popped in. I'm glad I did today. This is such an awesome photo. Loving all the different textural elements in it and I wish I could vacay there too.

  9. What a beautiful scene! It has been many years since I've been to the ocean. All I see around here are seas of corn and beans.
