"New York City via Iphone...

(Because my Christmas gift to the Better Half and Thing #3 was to leave my camera at home. Bah Humbug!)

Headed up to NYC this weekend.  It's an easy hop, skip and a jump.  Or more accurately... a hop into the car, a skip down the platform and onto a train, and a jump in a taxi (where you pray you don't hit NYC rush hour with the cab meter ticking away...which we did).  Note to self:  I need to take advantage of my close proximity to the Big Apple more often AND avoid the wallet draining Friday rush!

Ate at iconic "Sardi's" (the celebrity sketches are iconic, the food...not so much)  and saw "Matilda" on Broadway...

...which totally made me realize how inadequately talented I am when a bunch of 8 year old kids can sing and dance me under a table (FYI, I am referring to Matilda and NOT at Sardi's...altho I'm confident it could happen there too).

Did some people watching at Times Square...

...which totally made me wonder if Moses could part the Red Sea, "What Would Jesus Do?" with Times Square?  (FYI, I am referring metaphorically of course...I think!).

Was awoken the next morning by the gentle tapping on my 49th floor window...

...which totally made me realize I NEED to have drinks some night with a window washer.  Oh the stories they could tell (FYI, I am referring to OTHER windows and NOT mine...altho it probably could have).

And finally we subway-ed it to the Bronx and Yankee Stadium NOT for a baseball game, but for a football game (Penn State vs. Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl)...

...which totally made me realize only a jacka$$ would leave at the start of the 4th quarter to avoid possibly being thrown onto the subway tracks to our deaths, by the throngs of fans rushing to jump onto the trains heading downtown at the game's conclusion.  Only to wind up watching Penn State come from behind and win the game in OVERTIME in an Irish Pub in Time Square (FYI, I am not referring to MOI...okay...I AM!).  Apologies to my family who I dragged along with  me, but a mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do...WORRY UNNECESSARILY.

I love New York.  I also love being home.  Where I don't have to worry about dangerously crowded subway platforms.  Only dangerously crowded shoe sales at Nordstroms.  (FYI, I AM referring to moi).    Altho, after traversing the crowds on Broadway as the 8 p.m. shows ALL seem to let out at the same time?  Nordstroms is mere child's play.

  1. What a fun and quick trip! Bummer Sardi's food wasn't too impressive...riding the famous name?

    1. I've been there a few times Tamar. The food is "okay"...nothing extraordinary, but nothing horrible either. But the ambience is VERY cool! And I believe it is a "must do" at some point for anyone who wants to experience Broadway and it's history.

  5. What an adventure and you did quite well with the cell phone pics --- it really is the photographer and not the camera.
