"Da Bean"
Millennium Park
Chicago, Illinois
Located in Chicago's Millennium Park and created by British artist Anish Kapoor. It is officially named "Cloud Gate" but referred to lovingly as "The Bean".... for obvious reasons.
"Me and My Shadow"
"Time for a Facebook Status Update"
110 tons. 66 feet long. 33 feet high. Inspired by liquid mercury. It's mirrored surface offers a myriad of photo possibilities. Yet it's hard to come up with a vision, a view, a perspective that hasn't already been photographed umpteen gazillion times. Even harder when you don't want to hold up your friends who are waiting patiently for you. I gave it a Chi-town effort nonetheless.

Yep, that's the Better Half looking all Rico Suave' in the lower right hand corner. Gotta thank him for his effort to give me an "unique" shot.
"Reflections, Skyline and Sunshine"

I wonder what time I would have to come back to get da Bean all to myself. So many photo possibilities. So little time. So many people. I shall return.
P.S. I wanna thank my Bestie for laying down some roots in such an awesome city! Giving me plenty of reasons to keep on comin' back. The Better Half thanks you!

These are really cool and I was just thinking you husband was doing a mean Rico! Thank you for joining us today! You are always such an addition.
ReplyDeleteSo cool!! I love "me and my shadow" ... and the shot with your husband reminds me of a rorschach ink blot!! I must also add that you are exceptionally gifted when it comes to flares of light - always catching the light in a way that gives your photos the same twinkle that I imagine you have in your eyes!
ReplyDeleteLove the Bean! My sister was in college there when it was created - a trip there is never compete without seeing it!
ReplyDeleteThese are great! I can only imagine the photo possibilities if one had access to this sphere un-interrupted by the presence of others. At the same time...imagine capturing the sunset through the sphere...that would be amazing!
ReplyDeleteThe "Bean" and the rest of Millennium Park are a few of the best benefits of living near Chicago. I do enjoy touring around Chicago and showing visitors many of the sights.
ReplyDeleteLots of fun shots. Me and my shadow one of my favs. Rico looking all, well, good!
ReplyDeleteI think you did really well. Seems like that could be challenging light to work with.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of the Bean. Great city always a joy to visit it.
ReplyDeleteSo cool! Great shots. I'd love to go back to the Windy City.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!!
What a cool and interesting place to photo! You definitely will need to return for more photo-ops. I would like to see this, but Chicago is too far to drive. :D Happy #SWF!

Well if I were ever in Chicago I'd look up "The Bean" just because you've made me want to see it with your wonderful photos. How neat to meet your hubby too. He does look pretty suave.
ReplyDeleteI have seen lots of pictures of the bean and I still think they are cool! What a great piece of art lending itself... to well, more art. ;)
