Song-ography, the 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' edition...

"...we decided to have a soda
'Whatcha favorite flavor?'...'Cherry Red'."

-You Can't Always Get What You Want (Rolling Stones)

"Cherry Red"

I can't always get what I want.  Therefore, it's Diet Coke for me.  Because it's just what I need...to fit into my skinny jeans.

Okay, okay, okay...been promising everyone a Song-ography title/lyric that is a bit more current than what I've been recently posting.  So here it is, next week's Song-ography.  Can't wait to see how you twist, turn, interpret and create this one...

"Upside Down"
Jack Johnson

A question for you.  I've been noticing that my photography doesn't seem to display on my blog as "bright" as when I'm on Photoshop.  The images always appear a bit "duller" when I post them.  When I see what is showing on my blog, I often take the photograph back to Photoshop and perk it up more.  Has anyone else noticed this problem with their photography?  I was wondering if there is some sort of "setting" on Blogger that I might have to adjust????  Any insights are appreciated.

As always, thank you for joining and linking up to Song-ography.  I look forward to visiting everyone's blogs, and I urge you to take some time and peruse a few of the submissions yourself!  You won't be disappointed.

P.S.  You can now find me on Facebook and Twitter.

  1. Already up for tomorrow?! Wow - I came here to check out tomorrow's song, so I can go and dig or take photos :) Your photo of the bottle is really cool, I like it. As for blogger and photos, I don't really know, since I don't use blogger. But blogger is Google and Google+ has an auto-enhance feature, which I would (and did myself) switch off, since you are enhancing your photos for the web yourself. Maybe that will help. Now off to write a post... Have a great weekend!
p.s. did you get your 300?

    1. Yes, it was up early because I was leaving for Virginia and a wedding. I have not had good luck in scheduling my posts in advance.

  2. You should always sharpen images that will be viewed on the web because the screen softens them. But don't print them from the web version of they look pixelated.
See this article for more info: http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/93250 and http://redskiesatnight.com/2005/04/06/sharpening-using-image-magick/.

That being said, I think your images always look great from what I see.

  3. Shirley Temple - now there's something I haven't had for y.e.a.r.s. I suspect my definition of skinny jeans isn't the same as yours (any jean without spandex built in = skinny no-good-for-nuffin a#s%asd jeans ... ). All the same, I gave up diet soda on New Years because they say it rots the brain and wreaks havoc on the diet (but gosh do I miss it - more than a Shirley Temple). I have the same problem with blogger and I do (and always have) sharpened my images for the web. I too notice that the image is darker, and on facebook not as sharp. I wish I had a quick-fire solution, but I do the same as you - adjust, adjust, adjust. (ironically, the same approach to fitting into jeans) Happy Mother's Day Kathy.

  4. Oh man, I haven't had a shirley temple in ages! Never really had coke either - tried it once and wasn't too keen. I'm a seltzer girl!
    Have a wonderful mother's day!!

  5. If you go to google+ settings - look down for photo stuff. There's a box they automatically check to "auto enhance" photos. When I unchecked that box it seemed to fix the problem I was having....switching photos from where I edited them to the blog, there'd often be a change. Unchecking this seemed to solve my problem. Didn't know there was such a soft drink - my daughter would love this!

  6. Such a clean crisp shot, I love it! I think blogger compresses photo files which results in unsatisfactory results.

  7. Well done with capturing the fizz bubbles - it's in accordance with your usual vibrance and clarity with your photos. I know this is a few days back but I could not possibly go any further until I comment on the photos of your daughter's bridal shower - 3 words....... Oh. My. Goodness. What elegance, in both the decorations and your captures of it. Truly beautiful.

  8. This is a cool beverage and an awesome shot!! I never edit my images, I don't know how and I have never used photoshop. I am very small time, I take a pic and I share it, I really like the idea of using pictures that are not enhanced!!

I think you take amazing pictures Kathy, you have a very artful eye!!
