In the eye of the beholder...

Street Art?  Graffiti?  Mindless vandalism?  Brick Lane in East London.

"Walk on By"
Brick Lane
East London

While SOME in the familial unit preferred to escape the rain and head indoors to peruse the multitude of vintage shops lining Brick Lane in East London (we ALL opted out of the other area of Brick Lane reknown, the mega curry houses)...

I opted to take on the raindrops and enjoy the vibrant street art scene.  From the "Seriously? I could do THAT!"...

To the "Whoa! I must have been standing in the wrong line when talents were handed out!"...

"Precarious Voyage"
Beau Stanton
(who I have since learned is kinda big of a deal, who knew?)

"Mandela"
Paul Don Smith
(yet another "big deal" in the street art community)

I happened to visit London soon after Mandela's death.  Someone decided to add their own touch to Paul Don Smith's art, in remembrance.

To one that made me literally laugh out loud..

"Royal Party Animal"

I always had a sneaking suspicion that Queen E was a saucy little minx behind palace doors.

Brick Lane.  It's all in the eye of the beholder....AND...in who's hand lies the spray can.

Here's where I'm linking up today ..."The Party's On"

Please join me on Sundays for Song-ography.
This week's song title is Idina Menzel's "Let It Go".

  10. Wow - so interesting! So much expression. Nice to see that some of it is not painted over/vandalized, but really left to be enjoyed.

  14. It's without any exaggeration that I can honestly say that when I'm in street and building surroundings, I think of you. You are so adept at taking - and excuse me not saying this right - but both a snapshot but a holistic, wide shot at the same time. I'm amazed every time. Thank you, Renee.

  15. Wow - some of that is museum worthy. I've often felt some graffiti clearly didn't happen in the dark of the night with a look-out standing post. Love the Queen - she is saucy isn't she.

  16. LOL at that last one too! I love street art, especially on train cars but they are never standing still long enough!
