Celebrations...

The week that was...

"Celebrate the happiness that friends and family are always giving,
make everyday a holiday,
and celebrate just living."

- Sydney Smith

"Celebrate"
August 19 - August 26, 2013
Project 52 (34/52)

Last week was a week full of celebrating "just living".  So much happiness, my cup runneth over...

my beautiful niece's bridal shower

a wedding of two wonderful young adults

my madre' moving closer to moi

my future daughter-in-law nailing down a primo job

I enjoyed a bowl full of the sweetest cherries everrrrrrr

my youngest Thing told me that she loved me, ever so matter-of-factly

I started a new exercise program called "Ultimate Warrior Combat", yes I am a total bad a$$ in my basement

I reached out to try to repair a couple of bruised friendships.  It didn't work.  But I'm at peace with the fact that I have now done all that I can.

and last (but not least)...my BLOGGER is working again!  Boo-yah!

Last week illustrated to me that now is the time to enjoy life...not tomorrow, or next year.  Today should always have the potential of being our most wonderful day.  Carpe diem folks!

Please join me on Sundays for Song-ography.
This week's song title is the Bare Naked Ladies "If I Had a Million Dollars".

  1. Sometimes friendships simply run their course. Perhaps they taught you something you needed to know in life... life lessons. It's okay to let them go sometimes. xox

    1. Thank you Diane. And I am A-ok with how everything works out...I can only do what is in my control. And maybe THAT is the lesson that needed to be learned :)

  2. Yay for 'I love you's'...and cherries. I'm in my chair celebrating that I have a flexible enough, easy enough job that I'm able to keep up with blogging friends!

  3. Ah, I love that philosophy--enjoy life NOW. Amen! I tend to be one of those "I'll be happy when . . ." or "I'll relax and enjoy when . . ." I've finally been figuring out that now is all I have. Life is so much better when I remember that.

    "Ultimate Warrior Combat"--OK, I'm tired already. :-)

  7. Amen....and what a great week! I went to watch my boy at football practice one Saturday recently and one of the moms said, your taking pictures already....well hell yes...and especially after what we went through with him. I've always been one that is about right now, but now more than ever! xo And I'm so jealous that your mom is so close, 1200 miles is just too far!

  8. Sounds like one grand week....even the letting go of a lost friendship. I just read an article about friendship and it said that after making 2 attempts at reconciling and it is not accepted, then give it up...which is exactly what I have done with a former "friend". It's difficult and I still don't know what happened.

  11. Sometimes you can't repair friendships, it took me a long time and a lot of grief to learn that. Love the picture!

  12. Sounds like a great week...even the hard parts. Just hang on to those quarters! Pennies get heavy after awhile. You did the right thing, and if it can't be fixed, well, then you know! There is freedom in just knowing you did what you could. It's still hard, but worth it to be able to move forward with out the stress.

  15. That really is lots of significance in one week, heaps of lovely stuff. I think my favourite is of your youngest divulging that information - and if you just hold tight, she'll probably realise the impact of that in 20 or so years......I also think you've been brave to face what you did with the 'bruised relationships' - that takes alot, I'm pleased that , from what I can tell from your words that you sound lighter. PS Without needing to say so, such a perfect photo.
