I KNOW California wines...

...and you sir, are NO California wine.

But we can't ALL live in California.  Some of us are in Pennsylvania.  And altho that is pretty good for spending a day eating hoagies, cheesesteaks and Goldenberg Peanut Chews...it's not so fortunate if ya wanna pass a day winery hopping.

Because the choices are limited, you have to pick one and commit.  Hey, at least we have something to commit to.  So last week I headed to Chester County and the Chaddsford Winery.

You know, I'm kinda proud of being a Philly girl.  BUT, even I have to admit that Pennsylvania wines are not my favorite.  Waaaay too sweet for my tastes.  Even THIS Philly-centric gal knows when we are out of our league.  And PA wines for my particular tastes, are even worse than the Phillies these days.  However, every once in a Philly blue moon I'll find one that is "okay".  Chaddsford's Proprietors Reserve passed the test of "Hey, let's TWIST this baby open, buy a tub 'o cheese, and stay awhile".

Not even going to pretend Pennsylvania is in the same league as California when it comes to wines.  But that's okay.  Pennsylvania isn't in the same league as California when it comes to jokes either.  I can live with that!

  1. Such great images of your wine tour! I do love the ones with the glasses and the bottle....you've captured the tour events. (We have great wines in Oregon....and just over the mountains from my home is Walla Walla, Washington, which is famous for all its wineries. Maybe you can visit some day!)

  7. This looks fun! I've only wine tasted once, on my honeymoon. Would be fun to do that again. I typical just grab a Cab, and I'm good to go.

  9. Ha! It is one of the few things I have discovered that is more expensive in the USA (well certainly in PA)than it is in the UK. I also fell over when I saw the average price of a bottle of wine!

  10. Don't know why small wineries make all these off tasting, sweet wines, but they do. Know exactly what you are saying. Perhaps they don't know any better.

  12. We have wineries here in Virginia as well but they are not places I will probably ever visit since wine does not like me. Sets off an immediate headache when I do try to enjoy it. So no... I won't be visiting any, but sooo glad you enjoyed your visit! xox

  13. Not a big wine drinker BUT WHEN I DO I tend to prefer the sweeter ones - so I'd be a fish out of water in CA, and those from PA would be more up my alley.

  14. Very nice tour and shots of the PA Wines. Evelyn beat me to it but my home town of Walla Walla, WA is now a very popular stop for Wine Enthusiasts.
