Proposal, Pondering, Planning...

"Pondering and Planning"
Philadelphia, PA
Project 52 (6/52)
February 4 - February 11, 2013

The week that was...

First came the proposal.  Now comes the pondering and planning.  Prolific on all accounts.  Type A personality meets Type A personality.  I'm the mom of the groom and just along for the ride, so it's been real easy for moi so far. Luckily I have a future DIL who is kind enough to invite me along to experience the excursions.  And altho my involvement is on the fringes at this point, believe me I am taking copious mental notes for when the time comes for planning Things #2 and #3 weddings. Type A personality #1 didn't come by that trait by accident.  This weekend a big item was pondered, planned for, and booked boo-yah...the reception venue.  And I have to say my DIL, to be, has exquisite taste (and not just because she chose my Thing #1).  Yep, it looks like it's gonna be a Philly-style wedding all the way, albeit still a long way off on the calendar. Now it's MY turn to ponder and plan all the possible photo ops.  There are plenty.

--Kathy

P.S.  Can I tell ya why I love this photo so much...it is just sooo much my family.  Me off in one corner taking photos, and the Better Half off by himself taking in the situation and all the possibilities.  Probably formulating a plan of some sort.  This is our life.  Caught in a moment.

  4. love caught in the moment shots. A wedding as MOG is usually easier, although my DIL included me in everything, and when it came time to push up the sleeves and work, I was the first in line. Savor it, I cried like a baby. Mothers and sons, such a strong bond!

  5. Oh Kathy! You make me chuckle. That is a great photo that only a true photographer would think to do while in that planning stage. The venue will be great, I do believe! When is the great day?

Thanks for your boots "walkin and stylin" comment. You make me smile.

  7. Hi Kathy...it's been awhile, but I just had to comment today. I'm with you on this one! My son will be getting married this year, also. Yikes! Like you, my future DIL has included me so much more than I ever expected including asking me to do her flowers. I am honored and panicked! How to get it all done? Thank goodness it's a late fall wedding.

Beautiful venue for a reception and great photo that tells a story with simple elegance

  10. Great place to be in the planning stages... out on the fringes getting photos. You will get your turn to stand in the middle of it all. Looks like a lovely spot for the planning. Fun that your DIL is including you in so much too! Enjoy

  12. Didn't know that congratulations were in order. Yes MOG is much easier than MOB, however I think you get to buy new shoes for both (or all 3) events. Maybe that's what your better half is thinking over there off to the side. Gorgeous room, gorgeous light, gorgeous image.

  14. What a grand setting! Wonderful choice! My day as MOG (11 years and 4 grandkids ago!) was one of the most purely FUN, FUN, FUN days in my life. You'll enjoy yourself so much! I can tell it's going to be classy, too. And you'll have a photographic record -- keep shooting through the planning!

guess my antique wooden toolbox is still safe as it certainly wouldn't fit in this wedding theme lol
