But once you make that choice, it's kinda easy 'cause joy just happens to be everywhere. It's definitely in those sporadic big things that smack ya upside the head. But, it is also in the everyday small things that often go unnoticed. Personally? I'd rather receive a continuous flow of daily small treats that cause me to feel the smile inside, cause I'm a girl who likes her gifts. Of course, I'm not one to turn away a rare colossal gift either (I'm an equal-opportunity gift depository). All I gotta do is take the time to see all the tokens...and feel the smile.

I have to admit that much of my "stopping to smell the roses" was learned from hubby who taught me to "slow down!" and then was even more reinforced when he gave me my dSLR as a birthday gift a couple of years ago. (He's good like that!)
ReplyDeletehappiness & joy is all what you mak of it. Some people find it in every part of their life and others make everything negative and very un-joyful :)
ReplyDeleteYou have to be open to it, to experience it. That's my philosophy. :) Stopping by from Jenni on the Blog link up.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful message! Truly I need to spend more time looking for those little daily gifts.
ReplyDelete"Joy is like smiling on the inside"....I LOVE that! I've never thought of it that way, but perfectly described. And, you're right; the small things often DO go unnoticed and unappreciated while one sits and waits for one of the 'big ones'. If I can learn to recognize them, I'll happily take a whole bunch of little joys, rather than waiting for the big things that are usually too few and far between ;)
ReplyDeleteIt must be the age, but I tend to want to hang on to those little daily things. :)
ReplyDeleteDitto to what Adrienne said ;-)
ReplyDeleteComing here visiting you is one of my little everyday joys. Gorgeous photo
ReplyDeleteThis is the best post I've seen all day! Thanks for the uplifting words!
ReplyDeleteI so agree that it's the little things that bring the most joy...I love your photograph!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this post! The photo and especially what you wrote about choosing joy and the small continuous joys of everyday life and the occasional colossal gift! I am going to start following your blog for sure for this inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWishing you all the best,
Mary (from September Photo-Heart Connection)
First the image is beautiful and especially in b&w, second, I second all that, and third, I never saw this in my feed? ; )
ReplyDeleteOoooh, great photo, even without the joy. The joy was pure bonus! Love the RLS quote. To only remember it when the stress and anxiety crushed the joy. Perhaps it is one to jot down and stick to the fridge.
ReplyDeletePerfect photo. Thanks for linking up with us! Your photos are awesome.
ReplyDeleteYou gave me a grin today with your post (especially the equal-opportunity gift depository bit!) Thanks for sharing your joy and a fantastic image with us today.
ReplyDeleteI just love this black and white.
ReplyDeleteWhat I've always told my sixth grades is that being joyful means spreading happiness to others. You do it well!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, I love the small gifts of everyday joy, but I won't turn away the occasional big gift either! Thanks for bringing your "Joy" to the Photo-Heart Connection this month.
