Scavenger Hunt Sunday (June 24, 2012)...

Before I get to Scavenger Hunt Sunday, quick question.  I'm quickly falling into another black hole that is threatening to swallow up any remaining free time I have...Instagram.  Yes I know, I'm fashionably late to the party AGAIN.  When oh WHEN will I ever find time to dust my baseboards and clean doggie nose prints off my windows?  So I'm curious to find out what apps for Instagram I'm missing out on too?  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated...and my future cleaning lady thanks you too.

This week's Scavenger Hunt Sunday prompts are:  Warped, Concentric Circles, Gear, Glazed, and Marble.

1.  Warped

"From Croatia, With Love"

Is it warped enough that I'm wearing leather boots when it is 100 degrees outside?  If not, I processed the photo on warped paper just to make sure.  BUT, my Better Half would tell you how warped it is that I think it is perfectly normal to want to go back to Croatia to get another pair of my favorite boots.  Apparently Croatian women have very skinny calves...like moi.

2.  Concentric Circles

FIRST, I had to look up what "concentric circles" meant!  Yes, I know my geometry teacher is rolling in his grave right now (unless he is still alive...because that would just be awkward).  Circles sharing the same center point.  Yeah, yeah, yeah..I knew that Mr. Staller.

3.  Gear

"En Plein Air"

An artist and his gear.  Found a beautiful lavender farm yesterday.  Fields and fields of lavender.  There goes my rationale for the Better Half to take me to Provence.  On to "Plan B"... the food.

YourSundayBest

4.  Glazed

Spin Art!!!!!!  Oh how I loved this at carnivals and fairs when I was a kid.  Oh how I would get motion sick just looking at it.  How the paint would spin outwards and glaze the paper in circular patterns.  It was either this or a glazed donut for a photo....my hips say thank you to Spin Art.  (Yes, this is concentric circles too...see, I'm smart like that Mr. Staller)

5.  Marble

"Strawberry Lavender Fields, Forever"

"Marble-cam" to the rescue.  Seriously, WHO sits around and thinks "Hmmmm, I think an i-phone app that puts a big huge marble into a photo would be waaaaaay cool"???????  Obviously someone who is RIGHT.

Another Scavenger Hunt Sunday in the books.  Next week will mark my One Year  Anniversary of both blogging AND Scavenger Hunt Sundays.  Time sure flies when I'm having fun.  But seriously, my house is a MESS!!!!!!

Happy Sunday...

  4. I may have been early to the instagram bandwagon, but I had no idea the marble in a photo was an iphone app. What app is it? I'm curious to see what you find out about other apps for instagram because I just use instagram.

  5. Love your photography. Always pushing the limits, finding something new. So since your boots are from Croatia I must ask if you stopped by in Slovenia too? I grew up in Ljubljana.
Apps? Some swear by VSCO and others Snapseed. Ultimately for me the whole point is to post instant photos in real time so I end up just using filters on IG. Your feed is lovely Kathy!

    2. Stasha, that is what I've been doing so far...just filters on IG. Thanks for the suggestions tho! And NO, I haven't been to Slovenia...yet! I got those boots in Croatia probably about 5 years ago now. They are my FAV boots. I've had them re-soled 3 times so far. I LOVE them!

  6. Love your boots . . . funny that you should have worked footwear into the Hunt! I saw this quote the other day and thought of you . . . "Cinderella, proof that a pair of shoes can change your life."

That lavender marble shot is so very cool, too.

    1. Thank you for your kind comment. I believe there are two Lavendar Farms in the Bucks County area. The one I was at is Carousel Lavender Farm outside of New Hope in Solebury. The other one is Peace Valley Lavender Farm and is near Peace Park in Bucks County.

  15. Those boots are awesome! Truly. And your lavender shots are gorgeous...I hadn't heard of the Marblecam app, so thank you! I will check it out immediately. Some of my favorite apps so far are Snapseed, Phonto, Picfx, BeFunkyFX, and Pixlromatic. Type-Writer is also nice if you simply want to type a quote (or in your case, something funny...lol). The font looks like an old-fashioned typewriter (and even makes the sound as you type). Pic Stitch is wonderful for combining multiple photos into one frame (collage effect). There are many frames to choose from. Have a lovely Sunday! And I hear you on getting addicted to Instagram - it's too much fun!

No boots for me though. I agree with Lori-that gear shot is really stunning. Very artful you and James Dean. Happy day Kathy.

  42. That marble one is neat. I am not really on instagram but I am a recovering appaholic. I try to just get the free stuff. I'll never tell my husband that the apps in my phone probably amount to the cost of my phone. LOL! So one neat recommendation is tiny planets (nothing to do with instagram) Another one that I've see people do neat stuff with so I got it (it's free) Instaframe.
