it's BASEBALL SEASON...almost.
How ironic Kim Klassen would deem we must use her texture "Happy Heart" for this week's Texture Tuesday. No problemo Ms. Klassen as I indeed DO have a happy heart. Yep, my beloved baseball returned this weekend, the beginning of Spring Training. I actually got to sit down with a hot dog, beer and a big smile to watch my Phillies on television. Some might look for the first Robin, or first daffodil or crocus to pop up to mark the beginning of Spring. I look for the first pitch. Life is good!
My recipe for this photo is a bit involved, but if my Fighten' Phils can put forth the effort to be ready for the season...I can put in a bit more effort on my part too. Here is the photo I started out with:
I used three layers of Kim's "Happy Heart":
100% Color Dodge
100% Multiply
30% Color
Plus two different levels adjustments, a heart brush, and text.
If THAT isn't an extra base hit, then I'm a stinkin' Mets fan...just kidding, sort of. I understand not everyone loves (or even LIKES) baseball to the extent I do..I won't hold it against ya. But for moi, it's a homerun.
Play Ball.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! I walked over to Fenway Park on Saturday just to breathe in the air! Sox vs Phillies for the series this year, I am betting on it!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely on my bucket list to see a game at Fenway. Been on a tour there during the off season...but it's just not the same :)
DeleteYour edit is incredible....Great job..
ReplyDeleteheh. I appreciate your baseball enthusiasm though I am not much of a fan. Don't hold it against me please! I love how you've created such a great graphic from your image. Kudos!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit on my blog. Now I visit you. Your texture is fantastic and great. I love it. Have a good time at the baseball season.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great picture, super creative! I prefer not to watch baseball on TV as I would rather be doing anything else! I do however, enjoy going to the stadium to watch it.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazingly creative image, Kathy! I love how you've transformed the simple baseball shot into a Tribute. I can't say I follow baseball at all, but I live with a houseful of Yankee fans so at least I understand your passion! Thanks, btw, for your lovely comment on my blog.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is creative!!! you're GOOD! Photoshop can be so addictive... - but not baseball, at least not to me :-)
ReplyDeletewow...what a great photo! I just love reading your post, i can just feel your excitment for baseball! very creative, i always enjoy seeing your work. have a great day!
ReplyDeleteWhat an inspiration you are! Thank you for explaining what you did to the baseball photo. I love the whole concept!
ReplyDeleteLove this photo! Love my Cleveland Indians and adopted team, the Red Sox. I'm feelin' the baseball love. There's nothing better than a hot dog, a beer, and sitting behind home plate on a warm summer evening.
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative effect! I love this. I grew up going to baseball games (Riverfront Stadium - Cincinnati Reds! Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Little Joe Morgan, Tony Perez, Dave Concepcion...I still remember the line-up.) I have Johnny's autograph on a baseball. You've brought back some wonderful memories for me with this post...my Dad taught to keep score on those little scorecards. Alas, my baseball days ended in my teen years and I haven't watched baseball since. I'd love to go to a game again!
ReplyDeleteThe "Big Red Machine" years :). I crushed on Johnny Bench big time back then :)
DeleteWhat a wonderful image! It's good to see Kim's textures used on subjects that are not typical in Kim's texturing community . I apply them to rodeo shots.:-)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about baseball and spring training. Living about an hour and a half from Montreal, I was an avid fan. Even now, knowing that spring training has started always brings me joy, as it signals that the long dreary winter will soon be coming to an end.

I call it a Grand Slam. I am looking forward to opening day. Any baseball is great baseball. Your edit and texture work is fabulous, as always.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Wonderful creation, well presented, just delightful :)
ReplyDeleteLove baseball and love what you did!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!! You did a fantastic job, love it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative eye and idea!
ReplyDeleteLove your creation, now patent it for Phillies T-shirts!
ReplyDeleteFantastic job my friend!!! That looks great!
ReplyDeleteGo Mariners! The newspaper is touting this as a comeback year and I believe! :) I'm a baseball fan too and am blown away by your creative image - the extra time you spent was definitely worth it, it's a FAB image. You need to sell it to the Phillies!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is awesome! I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love this, what a wonderful creation and great use of texture.
ReplyDeleteI love what you did to your original photo!
ReplyDeletewhat a great concept for your photo - love it!
ReplyDeletewow wow wow i absolutely love this it's amazing you are very creative and obviously love your baseball have a great season
ReplyDeleteOh I love this! Only it would be much better with a SF Giants logo instead of the Phillies :)
ReplyDeleteWe watchted the Giants play last night (and lose, boo!) but it's great to have baseball back.
I must find this texture.
wow that is SUCH a cool edit!!! sooo creative!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat edit!! AND I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT BASEBALL TOO!!!!! But I'm a die hard Red Sox fan...I do follow the Phillies cause my dad and I share a love of baseball...and they're my second favorite team!! Great photo edit!!
ReplyDeleteYour piece is Brilliant! Love it.
ReplyDeletegreat creative juices were flowing here!! excellent!!
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!! this is frickin awesome and SHOULD be their logo!!!!! Yeah for you and baseball season!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm late today, again.....but this is so stinkin' awesome Kathy - a homerun indeed! In fact, I think they should let you throw a first pitch in one of their games!! Soooo very creative.....xo
ReplyDeleteOH WOW, this is awesome, I love your creativity. I have to agree this should be marketed as a Philly Logo T-shirt.
ReplyDeleteBaseball is my favorite sport, I had Diamondback season tickets for several years. Spring training is practically in
my backyard, I used to go to the games but now I prefer to watch them on TV. You have a nice blog.
What an awesome design! I love it! I like baseball too but my team is the Texas Rangers. The Phillies managed to lure Cliff Lee back to Philadelphia, and I am still a Cliff Lee fan even if he left us...so I tune in to a Phillies game on occasion.
ReplyDeleteI know nothing about baseball but that is one creative image.
ReplyDeleteCool photo! :)
ReplyDeleteNow that is amazing.. I LOVE this.. So creative..
ReplyDeleteI should be singing "Take me out to the ballgame" but you started with a Christmas song ;-) so that's where I am. LOL! I got to experience my first live game last year. My son and I went to visit my brother in Californian and took us to a Padres game. We didn't stay for the whole game but in the time we were there I had a HUUUUUUMUUUUUUNNNGUS pretzel, popcorn, a veggie dog, and I'm pretty sure there was something else. I'll never watch it on television but I'm game for live any day.
ReplyDeleteTotally, totally cool. After reading a few of the comments, I agree they should pay you gobs of money and use these on t-shirts.
DeleteGreat great picture! I love KK's textures! And yes, you know I am right there with ya girl! I am soooo happy that spring training is here! I get to watch a televised Yankees gaem while I work today finally - HOORAYYYY!!! I might even make my self up a hotdoggy! :) (NO beer though - gotta work!!) haha!
ReplyDeleteAnd for some reason you are not showing up in my google reader. WTH!? I need to unjoin & join your blog again to see if that fixes it :)
this looks amazing! wayyy cool! love the heart & you showing your love for the phillies :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute creation, and perfect timing!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed, baseball season is my fave too--not spring, summer, winter, or fall--"baseball" season. I've been having to cover the end of basketball season and missing our baseball games, so on Saturday I got up, took a shower, put on make-up, went to the gym and worked out (yes, but I put make-up on because I was going to the ball game afterwards). On the way home, I stopped by the field and found it empty. All Saturday games had been cancelled due to a wet field--boo! I sulked most of the day, but finally saw my first game this week on Tuesday. Love your pic.
ReplyDeleteWell, beat the drum and hold the phone - the sun came out today!
ReplyDeleteWe're born again, there's new grass on the field.
A-roundin' third, and headed for home, it's a brown-eyed handsome man;
Anyone can understand the way I feel.
PLAY BALL!!!!
Put me in Coach..I'm ready to play, today.....Centerfield.
