"Why, what's the matter,
that you have such a February face,
So full of frost, of storm and cloudiness?"
William Shakespeare (Much Ado About Nothing)
The only way I could truly love February is if "National Sarcasm Day" fell within it's parameters. But sarcasm deserves a whole month's worth of celebration, and not a SHORT month..but a REAL month, like October. Truth be told, once I take down my Christmas tree I would gladly fast forward to spring. But that's probably unfair to a month that already must suffer an inferiority complex due to it's short stature (or is it more politically correct to say it is "durationally challenged"?). I guess if I reeeeeeeally think about it there are a few things about February, besides getting it over and done with, that I can embrace. Let's see, hmmmmmm.....okay, I can cover up the extra pounds I put on due to being bored more easily with big sweaters. And, what other month of the year can you say to your daughter "If you want milk with your Cheerios you should check the back seat of my car". Because if I forget to bring in that gallon of milk I bought at Wawa earlier in the day, I know it is perfectly safe in the frigid back seat of my car for a few days. But the BEST thing about February is that I don't feel like a total loser putting on my pj's at 5 pm. Hey, if the sun isn't out, I don't have to be either.
But the other morning as I trudged down my stairs for a cup of coffee, the sunny glare from outside hit me right in the eyes. I have to admit THIS February is proving that apparently stunning weather can occur in any month here in PA. It was one darn sparkly wonderland out there. Sunglasses, at 8 a.m. while IN my house. So I bring you February, in my yard. Which reminds me, I better bring in that gallon of milk.

Last winter, I never even SAW my creek due to it being covered by snow.
No wonder I have so many freakin' squirrels out there! They apparently love living in a sparkly disco ball.

Wow, I would like to live in a sparkling disco ball too... or to be able the see the ground under all the snow...
ReplyDeleteLovely images, great bokeh disco lights!
OH SNAP! I think the squirrels nabbed MY sunny disco ball and took it to your back yard....and you have your own creek - so jealous!!
ReplyDeleteI'm just smitten with all of these Kathy, that incredible light and sparkliness and OH that little twinkle on the branch in that last one . . . . ahhhhhh! Thanks for the taste of the sun, I saw it Sunday, but of course I was knee deep in the house putting 'stuff' away....and haven't seen it since.
I'm thinking gray for SHS will be a breeze.... : )

You get an extra day to enjoy February this year Kathy, it is 29 days long. What I love about February is bein a short month....it gets me closer to retirement sooner. :) Huzzah!
ReplyDeleteGreat sparkle. I'll have to keep my eye out for a few captures of my own.
ReplyDeleteNice backyard. I'm with the squirrels, anything shiny or sparkly makes me stop in my tracks, stare, and grin. Your final shot leaves me sighing.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful, sparkling world you have captured in your lens. I love the reflections in the creek.
ReplyDeleteOH, those are beautiful pictures! The lighting is just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteKAthY...you always have me in hysterics!

I like your sparky disco ball, Kathy. I also like the Shakespeare quote. I had forgotten that one if I ever knew it!
ReplyDeleteYour creek is pretty and so is the little boggy area running into it. Do squirrels like the watery creeks? I know they like the trees that line the place.
..
Gorgeous images! And hasn't the weather this year just been amazing?! I'm not going to complain, but I think I'm jealous of the squirrels. Disco was a horrid age, but those disco balls and light shows were AWESOME . . . as is your bokeh. ;) And I'm all for celebrating sarcasm month . . . how bout we just make it a year? EVERY year.
ReplyDeleteSparkly indeed! Love the creek shot and the shining droplet of water too!
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny. I always get a smile when I stop by here. And your February shots look amazing, sparkles and all!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Linda
It has been such a mild February. Your world looks gorgeous, Kathy. Love the perspectives! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous bokeh! February and 60 degrees the next few days? I'll take it! My bah humbug husband is still convinced that we'll get a big snowstorm this year - I say bring on spring! Although the groundhog did say 6 more weeks of Winter....
ReplyDeleteIt looks like somebody's bokeh envy needs to simmer down. Wowza on those un-February shots in your yard. I too am finding this winter a blessing for my emotional soul. I'm hoping I'm not jinxing March to be a real bitch and come with big gnarly teeth.
ReplyDeleteWishing you more sunny days AND pjs at 5 too.
Unbelieveable ~ You made February sparkle =)
ReplyDeleteOhhh...I hear you on February being a crap month. Had to chuckle at "durationally challenged" LOL Seeing your fabulous disco ball back yard gives me hope that, maybe...one day...I, too, will enjoy February.
