Scavenger Hunt Sunday (#24)...

Scavenger Hunt  Sunday, some weeks are just easier than others.  Maybe not "better"...but "easier".  This was one of them for me.  It's nice to not struggle at some things some times.  Gives you a sense that you are on the right track.  The funny thing about Scavenger Hunt is that NEXT week? The prompts will probably knock that illusion right out of your head!  Gotta love Karma's (and Ashley's) sense of humor.  As always, if you have the time I urge you to check out all the wonderful photographers who ARE on "the right track" at Ashley's "Scavenger Hunt Sunday".  It just NEVER fails, I always see photos and interpretations there that cause me to say "I should have thought of THAT!".  Guess I was just riding on a different track.

1.  Repeating Patterns

"Windmill Thing-ies"
Lancaster County, PA

Every time I go to visit the Parental Units in Lancaster I pass farmland dotted with these "windmill thing-ies" (yep...I'm SURE that's what the Amish call them).  I always want to stop and take a photo, but I just never do....until this past week when I pulled over, forced a horse and buggy to go around me, and shot this through my sunroof. There is something about the weathered repeating pattern of the blades that calls to me.  Kind of scary I hear "windmill thing-ies".

2.  Rusty or Something Old

"Got Rust?"
Philadelphia, PA

You want rust?  I got rust.

3.  Smile

"Here's Lookin' at You, Kid"

This is the Better Half's secret weapon.  Utley.  Two blog appearances in a week, hope it doesn't go to his head. This little bugger truly has a gift...to make me smile no matter how much I try not to.  Kathy is upset?  Send in Utley. I have two dogs, and I love them both...but they are soooo different.  Had I known their personalities better I would have named them more appropriately. "Skipper" (my Boston Terrier) and "Gilligan".  Gilligan loves me, he must think I'm his Mary Ann.  Truth-be-told, I'm much more a Ginger Grant...but I don't want to break his heart.

4.  Artificial

Man, if only a REAL Kiss was a big as this ARTIFICIAL one...we'd all be Hershey Happy, not to mention Hershey Hippy.

5.  Stand Alone

"The Leaf Stands Alone"
Ambler, PA

I love the gentle curvature of this last Japanese Maple leaf clinging to the branch, amidst the extra weight of a little snow.  Some times, you just need to stand alone, and not blend in with the crowd....and let your beauty shine.

As always, looking forward to seeing what everyone else captured this week.

--Kathy

  9. Were you the one driving that car that made the horse and buggy go around? Shay and I were laughing pretty stinking hard! Love the windmill picture as I just think they are all around cool objects. Love the Hershey kiss lights, because I may have a thing for those too! And I love your stand alone picture not only because it is beautiful but because that is exactly the message we are trying to teach the girls in our youth group.

  15. Beautiful, as always...your windmill thing-ies really made me chuckle as I could totally see you pulled over, shooting throught the sunroof, while the Amish are forced to buggy around you...cursing the modern world ;) Your stand alone is beautiful, and your smile gave me a smile, too <3

  28. Love all your shots - great series!
I giggled when I read about your Boston Terrier & how you would have named him Skipper! My grandpa had a BT named Skipper when I was little! Too funny!
Your "rust" shot has amazing colors, but I especially love the starkness of the new padlocks against the old rust!

  30. Wonderful takes this week Kathy. Glad the list was easy for you...I found it tricky this week. All in perspective I suppose.
Windmill thingys. Yup. Making the H & B go round you...hee, hee. It's a great shot and worth pissing off the Amish.
That last shot JD has served you well (as if it has to do with the camera and not the operator)
All in all a wonderful set...Ginger.
