Not a big fan...

...of "orange".

If you look through my closet and drawers you will not find ONE piece of orange clothing. It looks horrendous on me, sallows me right out.  Blech!  If I were a blonde, I'd look pretty darn awesome...but I'm not.  Such an aversion I have for the color, I didn't even do the de rigueur Autumn post on the merits of the color.   No WAY would I have even considered going to college at a Syracuse "Orange-men", Florida "Gators" or Miami "Hurricanes" and be forced to wear a color for four years that I would cringe every time I had to put on a sweatshirt.  Not only would going to school at Miami or Gator-ville U  have meant four years of looking sickly, but also 4 years of Florida humidity bad hair days!  LOVE going to Disney, HATE that Goofy's hair looks better than mine.  And as much as I love visiting my wine country in Napa and Sonoma, I thank the Fashion Gods when I step on a plane in San Fran to come home...otherwise I'd look stupid wearing basic neutrals in the ballpark stands when every other Giants fan is sporting an orange jersey.

Orange colored American Cheese?  Sooooo unnatural. Cheese Curls? Not only are they orange but they SMELL bad too!  (I am STILL living it down 20 years later after I told my neice her feet smelled like Cheese Curls).  Orange colored spray tans?  So many chemicals it can't possibly be healthier than the real thing.  Looking back I can only think of ONE thing I liked that is orange.....TANG!   Even tho I probably looked sicking just DRINKING it.

However, I might have to reconsider after seeing the sunrise in the 'hood the other morning.  Never mind, I'm sure this is just red  diluted by some yellow that looks so gorgeous!

If I didn't know better, I'd think some of the neighborhood kids dumped a load of Tang in the pond!  Hmmm, do they even still sell Tang now that we don't go to the moon anymore?

Happy Thursday!

  1. I am not a fan of orange either... I haven't seen Tang in ages. I think I will look on the shelves next time I go to the supermarket. Just out of curiosity.

  3. Mornin' Kathy, great shots. Gotta love the morning sun. I used to pick my seat in grammar school according to the sunrise so I could sit in the warmth of the sun on those cold mornings (until the teacher so rudely pulled down the shade). I loved the feel of the sun on my back. Oh, I think Crystal Light replaced Tang.

  4. I always hated Tang!

I don't wear bright orange either - but only because I have bright red hair - not such a great look!

  5. LOL! Loved it Kathy. I kinda like orange but no so much to wear a whole sweatshirt of it ;-) I think Sunny delight might be the new Tang. Love those pics.

  6. Orange is my least fave color too. Perhaps my adversion is not quite as strong as yours, but I totally get it.
Awhile ago though, I realized I love the warm photos-especially golden light and "hello self", lots of orange there. That's when I had to make a shift.
Your images today are stunning. I especially like the shot from your 'hood.

  9. Beautiful shots ~ tho I must say I love orange...not gator football orange, but fall in New England orange. Burnt orange. Sunset oranges are spectacular...and I've come to collect an unusally large selection of scarves that have orange as an accent color...didn't mean to, but it turns out I must be more drawn to the color than I knew!

  13. lol...my high school colors were orange and blue, and I went to S.U. for graduate school. I wonder how we even got the mascot of an Orangeman...lol. I've grown up around the color orange all of my life. I never stopped to think if I liked it or not. However, I do think a nice juicy navel orange is very pretty.

    Happy Favorite Things Thursday.

  28. The bad hair days are frequent for me living in the humid south. I'm always amazed at how much easier it is to do my hair when we're on vacation! I used to not like the color orange, but it's grown on me. I think the one color I'll never be able to admire would be burgundy. Good thing I didn't go to Miss St or Texas A&M!

  29. Gorgeous sunrise! I love looking at the colour orange but I would never wear it . . .

  30. Gorgeous, warm photos. What wonderful light! I love the orange tints. Never knew there were so many orange-haters out there! haha! With our luck orange will be the "in" color this spring!

  31. I have a couple of orange t shirts -- one is a Fanta shirt I got from Coke for free (coke points.)

I didn't notice if it washed me out or not - it was free! :)

  32. No need for "bird envy" Kathy. You have a beautiful capture right here. Is that a swan? Not very good at identification! Thanks for visiting.
