...thank you Christina Aguilera for that blonde (pink, blue, purple..what hair color are you this week?) moment. Dontcha' just love when a celebrity says something uber stupid, and it lives till the cows come home via Google search? Kinda makes me feel just a weeee bit better about that time I was in St. Thomas in the hot, hot, hot Caribbean and driving over some very steep and windy roads when the first thing that came out of this Philly girl's mouth was "Man, these roads must be horrible to drive on in the winter!". I was brunette that week. One of the many benefits of not being a celebrity...faux pas immunity (EXCEPT from family and friends who will milk that statement TILL the cows come home).
I have some photos I've been working on from Cannes. France. Where the festival is being held. THIS year. And maybe NEXT year too. So how about a stroll thru town...
Alas, no Brad Pitt or George Clooney sightings. But obviously, still a lot to take in...
I only got to spend one day in Cannes. Let's just put that in the "pro" column because the Better Half couldn't afford to have me in Cannes for more than one day. Another "pro"? The roads are all flat in this French Riviera town, so winter driving should be a real cinch.

It looks warm there!! And so so so pretty! Maybe I'll win the lotto this year and spend my birthday in Cannes next year!
ReplyDeleteI love France - anywhere - anytime. You sure made the most out of your one day in Cannes. I especially like the architectural shots.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your images...could you just put me in your pocket?
ReplyDeleteLaurie
Does anyone know where the Boston Marathon will be held this year? :-) Very picturesque captures, especially that derriere in the last one!
ReplyDeleteLove that you can laugh with yourself ~ Fantastic photography of what looks like a very inviting place ~ and Warm ~ It is rather cold in New England today ~ ^_^
ReplyDelete(A Creative Harbor) ^_^
I love the architecture! Beautiful place!!!! The last image had me laughing though.
ReplyDeleteI've been to France but not to Cannes. I can't go to a European beach without almost laughing at all the men in tiny bathing suits, especially when they put on dress shoes to walk across the sand. It so validates the airfare! Your photos are amazing!! I added this fab blog to my blogroll. I have zero photography skills and just try to make sure my garden shots don't include a pooping dog. :o)
ReplyDeleteThank you for adding me to your blogroll :) And you are RIGHT about putting the dress shoes on to walk across the sand, lol.
DeleteWell...I have been waiting to see more of these pics, I'm so glad you can read my mind! That second one has captured my french heart, okay I'm English and German, but they are sorta neighbors! xo
ReplyDeleteI have never been to Cannes. I heard it is quite touristy France but your images don't show that at all
ReplyDeleteMollyxxx
It didn't seem "touristy" when we were there. I'm sure if I ventured there DURING the film festival I would have a different answer for you tho.
DeleteOh my good heavens. This place is gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous! I love the sights you were able to capture.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comment on my blog this morning. You would LOVE my Daddy. He is friendly and kind to everyone he meets! A true blessing.
Wishing you a beautiful day. Love, Becky
Oh that is hysterical! Gorgeous images. Looks so relaxing. The ornate decorations are great photo subjects. Love these!
ReplyDeleteReally, really beautiful images. Especially like the last one...maybe that's Clooney's Dad!!
ReplyDeleteYou have a great eye for the super beautiful! Least favorite, bikini guy, most favorite, the first two!! CA, def not my cup of tea!
ReplyDeleteI popped in via the Grow Your Blog Party. The title of your blog caught my eye as the "The Christmas Story" is a favourite of mine also. We watch it every Christmas morning.
ReplyDeleteI like your writing style and your photographs are amazing!!!!
Visiting from Cool Clicks....love your shutters series, perfect for a shutterbug♫♪ Here's my effort: http://lore-eleven.blogspot.com/2013/01/as-rural-postal-carrier-i-come-upon.html
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful place!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, many of these photos remind me of New Orleans. So yeah, they did steal from the French in architecture, etc. Love that second shot!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean! However, never saw "speedo man" lounging by the Mississippi :)
DeleteThese are so wonderful. I have never been there, but have been to France. So fun. This makes me wish for at least some blue sky and sun.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures especially the one with the 2 bicycles.
ReplyDeleteYou are too cute!! Thanks for the giggles!! Love your post and your photos!! We've been to Paris, but not Cannes. It is certainly on the bucket list!!
ReplyDeleteLove these shots of Cannes! looks like it is an awesome spot to visit. I love that shot of the window with all of the rust on the window fittings! Aren't the windows and doors in Europe just awesome. Can't wait to go back to Italy with my camera!
ReplyDeleteyour perspective is wonderful
ReplyDeletethe building shots are especially perfect!!
Love your photo shots, they are all so good. Love the shuttered windows with the balconies, and it did warm me up a bit. I did have to chuckle at the older fellow in his speedo, those guys do have a thing for their tiny suits!! I've always wanted to travel there but never have. Thanks for the stroll. I thoroughly enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots. Really Christina, really????!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! Love all those shuttered windows and beautiful balconies. Visiting from Cool Clicks Thursday.
ReplyDeleteLiving vicariously thru u
ReplyDeleteWhat lens did u use while in France?
ReplyDeleteHey Kelly. I used my Tamron 18-270mm ALL THE TIME. Brought along my 50mm but found the Tamron so versatile that my poor 50 mm had to hang out alone back in the hotel ordering room service :(
DeleteHave been in Cannes once (looong time ago) when we were on vacation in Geneva. At that time my kids were little and didn't photograph or blog, but it's good to scoop back up the atmosphere of the Riviera in these pics!
ReplyDeleteSo enjoying your photos of your trip right now -- what gorgeous architecture!
ReplyDeletehysterical! and love the pics. please do tell me how it is that you are lucky enough to travel as you do?! quite jealous here, though my hubby is finally caving in to my wanderlust and adventuring out beyond our local borders...
ReplyDeletealways enjoy being here. will have to come back later after the laundry ;) to catch up on this latest trip! would love for you to share again at 1440 on fridays. your photos are great!
Thanks Patty. The Better Half and I didn't start travelling beyond baseball tournments and swim meet invitationals until about 5 years ago. We've been trying to make up for lost time post haste :)
DeleteSo beautiful! I dream of going somewhere, ANYWHERE, in Europe with my camera one day. Thanks so much for sharing your photos (and your humor)! :)
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful shots warmed me from inside as it continues to be blustery & cold outside!
