Song-ography, the "59th Street Bridge" edition...

"Got no deeds to do
No promises to keep...

I'm dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep...

Let the morning time drop all its petals on me...

"Morning Time Drop All it's Petals on Me"

...Life I love you
All is groovy."

-59th Street Bridge Song (Simon and Garfunkel)

You know what they say, when life gives you lemons (or flowers past their prime)...photograph them.

Welcome back to Song-ography.  I am a bit sad to tell you that THIS will be the LAST Song-ography link up.  It's been three years.  And I'm ready to to take a break from hosting a weekly link up.  I haven't had the time to visit everyones' submissions the past few weeks, and I hate being a rude hostess.  So it's time to end this party.  I've been mired in a  photography and blogging "bog" the past few months.  I'm hoping to take some time and figure out exactly where I want my photography and blogging to lead me.  I need some time with "no deeds to do, no promises to keep".  Therefore, it seems like the right time to end Song-ography, and to thank everyone who has taken the time to link up.  I hope the idea of combining song/lyrics with photography has inspired you...and will continue to do so.  Sing on!  Photograph on!

Song-ography, the "Since You Been Gone" edition...

"You had your chance, you blew it
Out of sight, out of mind
Shut your mouth I just can't take it
Again, and again, and again, and again."

-Since You Been Gone (Kelly Clarkson)

"U Blew It"
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Kinda bummed about the focus being a bit off in the the forefront.  But that's what happens when you jump out of the car to take a photo in center city Philly, while the Better Half is parked in the middle of an intersection waiting for you.  Didn't want to press my luck and take too long.  Might have resulted in my own personal "Since You Been Gone" story.

Welcome back to another edition of Song-ography.

Song/Lyrics + Photo(s) = Song-ography

It's Memorial Day here in the States, and the plans are to spend time with the extended family today. Time always flies on these occasions.  As do my mental "must do" lists.  Therefore, I'm casting a premptive strike and posting early today.  Paying bills is also on that list.  Yeah, those can wait til tomorrow.

Thank you to all who stop by, and leave a comment, follow my blog, link up, and/or take the time to visit some of the other Song-ographers.  ALL are greatly appreciated!

Wishing everyone here in the States a happy Memorial Day celebration.

Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose...

Ain't about what's waiting on the other side

Song-graphy, the "Hard Hat and a Hammer" edition...

"But there's nothing wrong with a hard hat and a hammer
Kind of glue that sticks this world together
Hands of steel and cradle of the Promised Land
God bless the working man."

-Hard Hat and a Hammer (Alan Jackson)

"Hard Hat and a Hammer"
Ocean City Boardwalk
Ocean City, New Jersey

Seriously, I never even thought about "roller coaster construction" as a career path.  But thank goodness SOMEONE did!

Song-ography, the "Soak Up the Sun" edition...

"I'm gonna soak up the sun
While it's still free
I'm gonna soak up the sun
Before it goes out on me...

"Soak Up the Sun"
Potomac Tidal Basin
Washington, D.C.

...I'm gonna soak up the sun
Gonna tell everyone
To lighten up
I'm gonna tell 'em that
I've got no one to blame
For every time I feel lame
I'm looking up."

-Soak Up the Sun (Sheryl Crow)

Just one little problem.  I sure was soaking up the rays the day I took this photo BUT...today?  It's raining.  And it's been rainy the last few days. Gotta work on that whole "no one to blame" for me feeling kinda lame phenomenon.

Song-ography, the "Out of the Darkness" edition...

"Here in the light a lazy mist is lifting
And the sands of time are slowly shifting
Into the glass where the hours that pass...

"Out of the Darkness"
Ocean City, New Jersey

...I'm coming out of the darkness, suddenly my body can take a breath
I'm coming out of the darkness, finally my soul can take a rest."

-Out of the Darkness (Crosby and Nash)

Happy Tuesday!  It's another week and another edition of Song-ography.  The concept is pretty straight forward:

Song/Lyrics + Photo(s) = Song-ography

Before you link up to THIS week's edition, just a reminder that NEXT Tuesday is the first Tuesday of the month.  Which means?  I give a "suggested" prompt.  It's just a suggestion.  You can choose to accept the challenge or photograph to your own song.  Either are acceptable.

"Soak Up the Sun"
Sheryl Crow

Thank you to everyone who stops by, follows my blog, leaves a comment, links up!  ALL are greatly appreciated. I look forward to stopping by and seeing what songs you've been photographing to this week, and urge everyone else to take some time to do the same.

Song-ography, the "Haven't Met You Yet" edition...

"...And I know we can be so amazing
And baby your love is gonna change me
And now I can see every single possibility...

"Haven't Met You Yet"

...Oh, promise you kid to give so much more than I get
I said love, love, love, love
I just haven't met you yet."

-Haven't Met You Yet (Michael Buble')

Spoiler Alert:  IT'S A GIRL!  Can't wait to meet my little grand daughter in August.  But just because I haven't met you doesn't mean I haven't started shopping for you!  It's one of THIS Omi's special talents that I'm sure I will teach to the next generation.  Family traditions and all that, just sayin'.

Oh lordy, lordy. What a week!  You know when you have a computer for YEARS, and you've NEVER updated the running system...and then one weekend when you are home alone you decide to do something crazy?  I should have just updated my Tupperware.  Or gotten a root canal.  The end result...I finally got back online with all photos today.  And just because I'm here, doesn't mean I know how I got here (college flashback!).  OR how I got to edit a photo.  OR how I uploaded it.  But I shan't think of that right now.  If I do, I'll go crazy Rhett.  I'll think about that tomorrow.  So I sincerely apologize for not being online which meant...I didn't get to any of your blogs from last week (insert frown that Mammy gave Scarlett when she swiped those curtains right off the dang window).

But I am here, and it's Tuesday which means Song-ography:

Song/Lyrics + Photo(s) = Song-ography

A huge shout out to all those who take the time to stop by, leave a comment, follow my blog, and join in on the fun.  Barring any rebellious computer antics, I WILL be by to visit everyone who links up this week.  I encourage everyone else to try to make a couple of visits too.  After all,  I might be from Philly but I can summon up southern manners youse' guys.

P.S.  Apologies for the early posting...figured I better take advantage of actually being here.

Song-ography, the "It's My Life" edition...

EVERY year come March I promise myself the same thing...I'm going to hop in the car and make the drive to our Nation's capital to see the cherry trees when they blossom.  And EVERY year...something comes up.  I miss time the peak blooms, it's too cold and rainy, the Things have commitments on the calendar that I don't want to miss, I'm too tired, there's a an episode of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" I just can't miss. Yada, yada, yada.

"It's my life
It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive
It's my life."

-It's My Life (Bon Jovi)

"I Ain't Gonna Be Just a Face in the Crowd"
Cherry Blossom Festival
Washington, D.C.

But THIS year?  It was now or never. I hit the open highway and three hours later was in D.C. crossing off a 'to do' on my bucket list.  Felt good. I only missed the peak blooms by 2 days, so I consider that a success in my book.  The weather was sunny.  I didn't go on a weekend, so the crowds weren't TOO bad.  And I took LOTS of photos (more will be coming this week, so check back!).

As for this guy in the photo?  I seriously have NO EXPLANATION.  I'm SURE there is a story here, but for now it's a mystery to me.   If anyone is familiar with the significance of this cloak and gold chain I would love to be enlightened. But for the time being, he's just another face in the crowd enjoying the cherry blossoms along the tidal basin in Washington, D.C., like moi.  Except, And got there at a MUCH younger age than I did! But that's okay, like Frankie said "I did it my way".

Hello!  Welcome back to another Tuesday which means it's Song-ography.  Just a reminder for those not in the know:

Song-ography, the "Soak Up the Sun" edition...

"I'm gonna soak up the sun

"Soak Up the Sun"

...I'm gonna tell em' that
I've got no one to blame
For every time I feel lame

I'm looking up
I'm gonna soak up the sun."

-Soak Up the Sun (Sheryl Crow)

Once springtime hits, and I get that extra hour of sunlight each day...I'm definitely not feeling so lame.  Things are looking up!  Hello Spring.
