Couldn't wait to take him out for a spin. Had the PERFECT opportunity Friday when the Better Half and I spent the evening in Philly. Even better? It SNOWED. Even better yet? We were spending the night in the city so we didn't have to worry about driving in it. The stars were aligned for a perfect evening of fun, freezing fingers, and photo ops. I even brought along my fingerless mittens so I could push "James Deans" buttons in the near Arctic temps. God only knows the Better Half was glad I was pushing someone else's buttons besides his. As we strolled down Broad Street in center city, the snow beginning to fall upon us, my fingerless mittens ready for some action, I pulled out "James Dean" for my first photo and....wait for it....wait for it...FREAKIN' NADA. WTHeck (but I didn't say Heck). It seems I forgot to replace James' battery AND memory card. Like most rehab facilities, they had stripped him of his valuables upon admission. You would have thought he'd feel lighter sans innards!
What to do? FIRST, of course I blamed the Better Half. For no other reason than, well...I could. Then, I had to resort to basics. The I-Phone. You're KILLING me Smalls. Such perfectly beautiful conditions left in the hands of an I-phone. I should have earned a merit badge for operating under such primitive conditions and MAJOR duress (MINE, not the Better Half's). Truth be told, a couple glasses of wine helped. That might have been the Better Half's suggestion.
So I bring to you Scavenger Hunt Sunday, the I-phone edition. This week's prompts are: Lace, Bling, Wood, Fabric, and Fuzzy.
1. Lace
"Let Them Eat Cake"
I-phone
2. Bling
"Bling in the Sky"
I-phone
Mother Nature, like moi, loves her bling.
3. Wood
"Got Sky?"
I-phone
Wish the prompt was "1/9 of a photo should be of wood". Because I would have nailed that!!!!
4. Fabric
"Window Shopping"
I-phone"
Sure beats my $350 wedding dress. Not to mention my veil that I WON in a raffle. Let's just say I'd love a "re-do". Didn't realize it while shooting but...I see moi in there.
5. Fuzzy
"Winter Blur"
Philadelphia, PA
I-phone
Let me just say that THIS was a most wonderful surprise. Shhhh, don't tell "James Dean" BUT...not sure I could have gotten a better photo. I did very little editing to this shot. It's very close to being straight out of the old I-phone.
FYI, "James Dean's" battery AND memory card are now in place. Lesson learned. Until I forget it or do something else that earns me another "Moron of the Year" nomination.
If you get the chance, check out Scavenger Hunt Sunday at "Ramblings and Photos". Have a great Sunday.

The first time I "forgot" my memory card I blamed the husband. Now we never leave the house without him saying "Do you have your memory card?" Your pictures are great (as always) - especially fuzzy and fabric.
ReplyDeleteSoOOOOO funny - I've not forgotten the battery, but have forgotten to charge the battery. A dead battery is pretty much the same as NO battery, right?
ReplyDeleteLove, LOVE, love that fuzzy shot!
Oh no!!!! I would have been crushed. I seriously get twitchy when my camera is down. But, you certainly earn points for making it work. These are all great shots! Kudos for pulling it together. Sounds like a wonderful night out :D
ReplyDeleteHow funny. Sounds like a wonderful night in Philly, with the snow and not having to deal with it. Awesome photos! I'm wow'd by the iphone camera, but we won't tell James Dean. I hate when the other half forgets the battery and card, but love it when he remembers the wine. Love this post.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding set of captures. Love Fuzzy and Lace. Really well done.
ReplyDeleteSuch Fun! And I can't wait for your and the better haves nuptial renewal! That will be a party!!
ReplyDeleteSallie
I think I swore in frustration in sympathy with you whilst reading about the absence of the memory card/battery - I can relate as that's happened to me before. And yet, look at what you've produced with your last photo in this series, you do know that people make artwork from images such as this don't you? Seriously, well done - and I kind of love viewing this while it's summer here, makes me want to visit for a few minutes to take in the whole scene. Renee.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots!! I too have managed to bring my camera someplace with no battery or memory card. We now have a back up of both in the camera bag.
ReplyDeleteThe blurry photo came out great!
ReplyDeleteLaughing at your photo faux pas -- I've done it more than I care to admit. Great shots Kathy~
ReplyDeleteWhat striking photography and a great blog- glad I found it, will be back often!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, Kathy...love that Winter Blur!
ReplyDeleteI love wood one, but but all the pictures are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteInteresting choices for the Hunt!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Lace!

Oh I can't tell you how many times I have gone out and snapped what would have been great shots only to discover I had no card in my camera.
ReplyDeleteWow your collection and take on this week's theme is incredible. I really love your lace and fuzzy. Fuzzy is my absolute favorite!
Happy Sunday ♥
Wonderful shots, Kathy. The last one especially is something else, do you realize it looks just like a watercolor painting. Some watercolorists paint just like that, they call it loose. Fantastic shot! Hope you are having a fab weekend. :)
ReplyDeletePoor James Dean..ready for action and than that! Winter blur looks like a watercolor painting!Super!
ReplyDeleteshut*up!!! I am dying here, these are so freaking great. The Winter blur - OMG ! ! ! and your wood - seriously! Love each and every one - perfect examples of how it is not the camera (sorry James Dean) but the photographer. Can I throw in another WOW!
ReplyDeleteTalk about grace under pressures. The iphone takes great pictures. Your examples just prove to me that the quality of the photos has more to do with the eye of the photo taker than the technology she is using.
ReplyDeleteI really love that last photograph.
Oh wow...I'm laughing with you, not at you! I've done this myself - so frustrating!! Despite your oversight, I love your photo set. That last one is fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots ~ love the last one and its arty look ~ beautiful!

I love your interpretation of the prompts! This is my second week linking up and I love that it helps me think outside the box. As much as I love my new camera and all of its fancy settings, some of my favorite photos have come from my iPhone. It's easier to whip out on a moment's notice. So glad to have found your blog...and to now be following along.
ReplyDeleteI was SO excited and you busted my bubble. So I can imagine how you felt with no memory card and batteries. But the iphone pics are excellent. Especially the wedding dress reflection one. If you had not said anything I would have missed that. It took me a few minutes. Like one of those pictures, with a hidden picture in it that some people can see right away.
ReplyDeleteI've made Tom turn the car around more than once for a battery left at home....left in its charger :). Thank goodness for you iPhone...that pic is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteOf course the wine helped!! I'm sorry about the battery and card-I would have loved to see JD shots in those conditions, but that last image totally rocks. Love it. Great interpretation of lace. As for that wedding gown, they rent tuxes, imagine the $$ women could save and the even more amazing dresses they could wear if there were rentals for that too. Nah. It would never work. Have a great day Kathy.
ReplyDeleteOh I have SOOOO done that. Sadly more than once. You'd think I'd learn. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteGlad you have some pics to capture your memories though!

ReplyDeleteGreat shots!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely ADORE your fuzzy shot! You got great images, even with your I-phone. I hate to admit that there have been a few times I've realized I either had no memory card or a dead battery. UGH!

ReplyDeletesoooo creative, LOVE your set!! and that last shot WoW, took my breath away!!

ReplyDeleteMollyxxx
Glad you got snow and a night in the city! Sounds wonderful! I love the interpretation of lace. Very creative.
ReplyDeleteI am loving you Iphone shots.. Well done. And that last shot is AMAZING. It looks like a painting to me..
ReplyDeleteHugs~
Your fuzzy one really does have such a painting feel to it. Love the lace! I think my favorite might actually be the wood:-) But honestly all are great!
ReplyDeleteThat wedding cake is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the snowy street shot.
And, your blog title always makes me smile, which is a very good thing.
Wow...what awesome shots!I simply Love your lace and your fuzzy shot. Good thing you had your trusty i-phone! Great Job!
ReplyDeleteThat cake looks so pretty.
ReplyDeleteWas that moon shot taken near Rittenhouse Square? That building reminds me of one right near the park! Welcome back James Dean (and innards!)
ReplyDeleteWonderful sst! I loved them all!
ReplyDeleteGreat iPhone photos! I know lots of people love their phone cameras, but I will take my "big girl camera" over it any day. I just seem to get yucky fuzzy pics with my phone.
ReplyDeleteI love your little bit of wood photo, and the lace was lovely too. Your lucky accident photo is cool!
you crack-me up! I'm glad you pulled the trusty i-Phone out to capture some brilliant shots. I love the bridal stuff - well, sort of - I have two daughters who are getting to that place in their relationships, so that's scary! (the cost, I mean). Your last shot is amazing. thanks for always being so much fun!
ReplyDeleteWow! My little phone (not an i-phone) can take pictures but I have no clue how to get them off the phone. You on the other hand mastered these shots.
ReplyDeleteDelicious Lacy looking cake.
Bling - I think this shot is my favorite from your set. I just love everything about it.
Kathy,
ReplyDeleteLove the "lace" picture. I enjoy looking at beautiful cakes. What artists. Speaking of artist, your "wood" picture is AWESOME!!
Hi Kathy, love that last shot! You always make me smile
ReplyDeleteOh no Kathy! I can't even imagine. I know you had to be MAD! : ) So thankful you rocked your iphone out. I am in Philadelphia every single day and I am always astounded by the sights and sounds that are there!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has had my camera for two weeks....so my last two Sunday's were thanks to the iphone...ahem! guess I should have given him credit. I took off the other day to walk the lake and shoot ... got there ... no memory card. And no one to blame but myself!! any how - thanks for bringing me 'home' when I visit your place!! Love that last shot!!
ReplyDeleteHee Hee...you always crack me up. I'm sending in my baby THIS week..she needs a tune up BAD. LOVE that last shot....
ReplyDeleteI got a new camera last week and yesterday I walked way out into the woods for some nature shots, only to discover the memory card was back home in my laptop. D'oh!
ReplyDeleteYour pics are beautiful though, LOVE the wedding cake.
Your winter blur shot is so cool! Love it.
ReplyDeleteYour fuzzy shot is FANTASTIC!
