"View from a Warm Booth"
12th and Spruce Streets, Philadelphia
Week #4: January 21 - January 28, 2013
Project 52 (4/52)
I-phone
The week that was...
Friday night. AKA Project Date Night. An overnighter in center city Philly, sans kids, Bryan Adams concert, gorgeous hotel. Acting like I have nothing better in the world to do than to hang out at a few cool wine bars. I'm going incognito as a hip city chic and that's how we roll. I'm no suburban housefrau for 24 hours. Life is good. Add on to this grocery list of mucho to be giddy about...the fact that it snowed. Even better? It snowed and I got to watch it from a warm and cozy table over a couple glasses of Malbec with the Better Half. Snow is good. Warmth is better. Malbec is the best. Add in figs with prosciutto and gorgonzola and I might never return to suburbia.
But Lord help moi. This Iphone-ography??? It's another black hole and time suck that I've avoided pretty well till this past week when I was "James Dean-less". But now? Help me I've fallen and I can't get up. Don't worry James, you'll always be my Numero Uno. If you've fallen too and want some company, you can find me on Instagram (kathymcb). I'm hoping this is a temporary obsession...like Beanie Babies and Earth Shoes.

That sounds like my kind of night! Sounds like you had a blast!
ReplyDeleteReally like this view and I'm sure would have equally enjoyed from the inside. It's summer here but in the last days there's been major floods and fires before that - not in my vicinity thank goodness but all up the east coast and it's heading down our way. So it's strangely bizarre seeing photos of your snow. I think I'm a winter East Coast/Europe girl at heart. Renee
ReplyDeleteSorry, Kathy -- no instagram fo' moi. I had to draw the line at one more social network (my internet usage is over my limit as it is.) But you go on with your bad self.
ReplyDeleteBryan Adams? Yes! How romantic.
Great view! Love the angle! Glad you had a lovely date night in Philly!!
ReplyDeleteIt truly is addicting...I've fallen and I can't get up (to use my real camera). lol
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo - your date night sounds perfect.
hi Kathy! Yes we have to just have a grand date night if just every so often. We have had cabin fever so badly with our mountains of snow here. AND ...it snowed again yesterday. We have had snow on the ground since Christmas day. None has melted in the freezing temps. Thank you for the wonderful visit and saying you love to stack bracelets too.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a perfect get away. Recharge with malbec and the hubs. Nice, nice , nice. Have fun with the phone shots.
ReplyDeleteSounds amazing! Snow makes it perfect! I love Instagram, and I'll come find you!
ReplyDeleteyeah - i'm an instagram fan - so no help here for the iphone photo problem!! We're doing a down town date night this coming weekend - stay tuned! I'm really looking forward to it!!
ReplyDeletei've fallen also but have avoided instagram, similar to the way i avoided pinterest. i surcome to pinterest, because i am weak and i adore wasting time!! it is fun....what did we do with all our time 10 years ago??
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun evening with your hubby. Cool shot. I love big cities!
ReplyDeleteAwesomeness!!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't fallen...yet.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Debbie...what did we do with our time, years ago....before all these 'time saving' devices...???
Your date night sounds great .... sans wine for me LOL (15 more weeks!) - Speaking of - my husband and I desperately need one soon !! Iphone-ography - eh - I like it no doubt but I find myself disappointed when I really would have liked to use my big girl camera to get the perfect shot :) And Instagram lost it's fun for me a while ago. I still post on there but don't find it quite as attractive anymore :)
ReplyDeleteNo, it is here to stay. Sorry James...
ReplyDeleteGetting green with envy! Sounds like you had a wonderful time- and the shot is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThe good thing about using your iphone is that you don't have to put your wine down to take the photo! I love how this turned out...the blur of the cyclist, the falling snow, and the handrail on the stairs is so pretty. Glad you enjoyed your date night!
ReplyDeleteLooks cold out there!
ReplyDeleteI have fallen-So u are in good company!! And melbec is delish!!!
ReplyDeleteAre you shooting from a special camera app or the default one? That came out great. I have no James Dean, but I have barely used my other camera the last two years. When I said, "Oooo neat!" to the Nikon camera Ashton Kutcher did a commercial for around Christmas, my husband gave me the, "Don't even think about it" grunt. There was something wireless about it where you could post to Facebook and problem instagram too. And it was RED! As you can see I'm not over it.
ReplyDeleteI'm just using the camera on the phone...no app
DeleteThat is why I am afraid to get a good phone with a camera. My phone/camera not so good. Loving you shot here. And a glass of wine sounds pretty darn good right about now!
ReplyDeleteHugs~
I love how you captured the bicycle going by. You have a great perspective on winter -- from your warm booth. Love it!
ReplyDeletehow do I love this image...let me count the ways: #1. THE FLOATING TEXT across the composition...perfection! #2. How the bicyclist is perfectly centered between the text...perfection! #3. All the textures! #4. All the lines and perpective! #5. The scrolly handrail! #6. The feeling of warmth vs. cold! Kathy...this one is uber yummy! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!
ReplyDeleteThank you! You just hit the exact reasons why I'm kinda crushin' on my own shot :)
Deleteiphoneography may be too much for me to time suck away at this juncture. I LOVE this image. Text combined with image always delights. To get motion too. Cha-ching.
ReplyDeleteNice shot. Your warm booth sounds so inviting. Can I come in?
ReplyDeleteLove your post and the shot :)
