Hope...

"Hope"
Valley Forge National Park
Valley Forge, PA

Sandy sure was one huge and scary BI-ATCH.  My heart breaks when I see the devastation she wrought on the Jersey Shore, New York City, and my Philly.  Day #3 of no school here, trees are still down, many roads still closed. Most still do not have power. But we are so extremely lucky to have had ours restored within 24 hours.  Can I tell ya how much I love our PECO workers now?  Someone just smack me the next time I complain about my PECO bill, okay?  It's times like these, when we are knocked down so violently, that I hold the most hope.  Because I have seen how Americans come together under the most dire of circumstances.  No matter how dark the situation....hope is always possible.

  3. Amen sister! I do think it's sad that it takes a disaster to bring people together...that should be practiced on a daily basis. So glad all is well, now you just have to survive the no school, right?! ; ) ....and yeah for electricity!!!!

  4. Amen, say again, say again. I'm so happy that you & your loved ones are okay. You were on my mind Sunday as were a few other folks too. My heart & prayers go out to the families that were not fortunate enough to escape Sandy's wrath. Hope the rest of your family is okay as well. We made it through & no power outage. I'm shocked because we're always the first ones on the list! Kids still missed school though O__o

  5. The scope of this devastating storm is hard to fathom...watching the news is so heartbreaking. I'm happy that you and your family got through it OK and that your power is back. We never even lost our power which we are so grateful for. My daughter's boyfriend, meanwhile, lives in Lower Manhattan...I know he's got a long way to go before life gets back to normal for his NYC neighborhood. Your photo is beautiful...

  7. It is difficult to even imagine the terror and helplessness that fills the hearts of those who have suffered through the worst of this horrid storm. I refused to complain about the wind, rain and brief power outage we had as side effects to Sandy...knowing that others were in dire straits...so glad you came through it all safe and sound. I love your photo - so fitting!
