Like a moth to the flame, so go I....ZAP. I can't help it. What IS it about that pretty blue box with a white ribbon, and the promise of shiny, sparkly things it contains? It's not just ANY mere shade of blue. It is Tiffany Blue. Internationally iconic and identifiable...and the subject of quite a few Pinterest Boards so you just KNOW it's legit. Like Audrey Hepburn, it is sophisticated and glamorous. And it just makes me happy...yep it sure does!!!
"Why change? Everyone has his own style.
When you have found it you should stick to it"
--Audrey Hepburn
That being said, I would like to preface the rest of my post with a disclaimer: in NO way, NO shape, and NO form am a car aficionado of ANY sort (stay with me, this will all come together). I completely boggle the Better Half's sensibilities with the fact that I have no idea how to even open up the hood of my car. Isn't that what "Triple A" is for? And if I had my choice, I'd go out of my way and drive across the river to Jersey where you aren't ALLOWED to pump your own gas. NASCAR? Seriously? What's the big deal about continuously turning left? I do that everyday to get a "triple grande skinny cinnamon dolce latte"...whew... at Starbucks.
So I completely gob-smacked (I just can't use that phrase enough) my family when they found out I had slipped out of the house and headed to a classic car show in the neighboring town of Ambler on Saturday. Hey, it was 80 degrees and sunny...and who can't resist having a bunch of guys telling you ad nauseum about their thingy-ma-jiggers without feeling the need to smack them? Altho I have to admit I was in awe of the spotless engines when I can't even keep the smudges off my I-pad screen.
BUT, somewhere in Ambler between "Rita's Water Ice" and the beautifully retro "Ambler Theatre" I fell in love...
The sparkle of the hood ornament...
The shine...
Baby can I drive your car?...
The silent GPS system that won't yell at me "Recalcuuuuulating you moron!"...
"Tiffany Blue" wrapped in white ribbon...
I'm a goner. Once you drool on a car it's yours, right?...
If pressed, I might have traded in Thing #3 for it. Heck, I would even just drive it in a continuous left hand NASCAR direction all day...after all, I'm pretty sure once I pass Starbucks on that route I'd hit DSW eventually.
And the trunk space? Holy Guacamole Batman. I could I fit in mega boxes of classic patent leather pumps, little black dresses, and a few pair of large sunglasses ala' Audrey. That is...IF I could only figure out how to open the hood and fill the gas tank.
Shiny, sparkly, pretty, Tiffany Blue...in Audrey I trust.

I with you on the whole car thing Kathy, but classic cars? Yup, I would have slipped out to the car show too. A wonderful series of images, and definitely worth your trip.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
That is a beautiful car! great shots of it.
ReplyDeleteI am in love. That car (and your photos) are fabulous! It doesn't hurt that I have a soft spot for Audrey (and Kate - gotta love both Hepburns) When my daughters turned 16, we went shopping at Tiffanys for their first little robins egg blue box with the white satin ribbon. Then we watched Breakfast at Tiffany's! Sweet memories. The only thing that would have made it better would have been to drive to Tiffanys in that CAR!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great "Sweet 16" tradition you had. Ahhhh that movie, Holly Golightly/Audrey Hepburn...perfect!
DeleteWhat a great blog post! I LOVE the blue car....but I especially like the way you photographed it!

ReplyDeleteI think any classic car magazine would be tickled to have your photos in them . . . they are that good. Awesome post, Kathy.

Sooooo Shiny! Love that first pic!
ReplyDeleteLOL, Kathy! You ALWAYS make me smile. My posts are dry, straight to the point, and not so entertaining. Yours "gobsmack" me and make me giggle all day. I love the old cars too, so my husband drags me along in the fall for our local one. Hope you have a wonderful day. You certainly made mine. :)
ReplyDeletecool car. We don't pump our own gas in Oregon either..I put up a few cars from the parade, but I like this one better!Have a great rest of your week.
ReplyDeleteTiffany Blue- definitely one of my most favorite colors. The best things come in little blue boxes!!! This car is gorgeous- I could have photographed it all day long.
ReplyDeletehaha, you said it all!! nice reflection, in the mirror!!
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!!! I'm not into cars but I think well I'm sure I just swallowed some drool. This car is BEEEEEEUITIFUL!!!!! Teaser pics too. I wanted to see a full body shot. But I know there wouldn't have been anything artsy about a full body shot. P.S. I love Zappos too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love the color and the sparkles and sunspots!
ReplyDeleteYep- with you on the whole lack of interest in the car thing BUT this car is gorgeous!! Thanks for taking such great close up shots of it.
ReplyDeleteYou have captured this car so well!! I don't need to own or even ride in old cars, but I totally love finding them and shooting some photos. You found a real gem. Big trunk...forgot about that. Of course now there's the SUV-accesible storage (and GPS, and video for the things)
ReplyDeleteA definite oldie but goodie...just like us? haha
