The Hunger Games...

Well, this week's prompt for Project 52 is "hunger".  And just in case you live under a rock, at 12:01 a.m. the highly anticipated movie "The Hunger Games" was released in theatres.  How do I know?  Let's just say I had a few movie tickets in my possession for the 12:01 showing due to some fanatics in my family (yes, you guilty family members know exactly who I'm talking about).  Preparations began at 9:30 p.m. when Thing #3 and the girls started to gather in my bathroom upstairs and morph from teen-aged girls into various movie characters...which apparently involves the requisite loud giggling, shrieking and yacking.  Advil was popped immediately upon their departure at 10:30 p.m. for the theatre.  Have I mentioned what a great dad the Better Half is?  It is now 12:13 a.m. and I just received a text from him informing me the movie was about to begin...yep, he is there with the gals, albeit banned from sitting anywhere NEAR them.  Who is that strange man sitting by himself at a movie theatre in the wee hours of the morning? Haha.  Just kidding, his latest text told me he sneaked into the 12:05 a.m. showing to sit with my sister and our two nieces who didn't balk at his presence. I am apparently the only sane one...if you call typing a blog post on the computer at 12:15 a.m. sane!

Frankly, "The Hunger Games" have been talked about ad nauseum in my home so the last thing I wanted to do was post a photo having to do ANYTHING with the movie.  So here is my "hunger" submission...

"The Hunger Games"

He looks hungry to ME!  And alot more pleasant than a bunch of teenagers killing off each other via some sort of post-apocolyptic nationally televised battle where only one can survive.  I kind of felt guilty that I apparently was the only person in America who hadn't read the book, until I realized I've heard so much about it I don't NEED to read the dang thing.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  Fun things in store for me.  I'm meeting up with three other bloggers in Philly for a photo outing on Sunday.  Shay from Eye on the Sparrow, Wendy from In Focus on Him, and Kathy from Click, Play, Love.  Isn't it great the wonderful people you meet with common interests here in blogland (gosh I hope "The Hunger Games" isn't one of them). Not sure where I am going to take them yet, but I'm sure we will have fun and a few laughs will be involved.  MAYBE we will even gripe about how crazy our kids are.

  3. Oh my, my grandson Jacob has read all the books twice but he doesn't bombard us with talk about it. Oh, he wears his Hunger Games pin proudly and people ask him what it is when he is out in the community. Great conversation starter...... Other than that the only hunger games around here happen in my kitchen on a regular basis like clockwork.....tick, tock. It's almost time for round one today so I better get my battle gear on.
Your pic today is lovely.....but, he looks like someone's snack to me. I wish him luck...........huzzah!

  4. What a lovely photo - he does look hungry! I haven't read The Hunger Games, either, but I admit I'm curious because of all the buzz about it. And I bet there was probably a whole section at the movie theater for the "Dads"...lol. :) Enjoy your photo outing - that sounds wonderful!

  5. Nice detail. I haven't read The Hunger Games either although I did read a very thorough review of it last night while my son was at the midnight movie.

  7. Yep, my husband and daughter have read the book and have talked about it non-stop for weeks too. I imagine I'll see it with them, I kinda wonder what all the hype is about at this point. Hope you have good weather for your outing!

  8. I didn't think I'd care to read it, but once I started read all three in a weekend. :-) It was much better than the "hype", and not at all as dark and depressing as I imagined. Have a great weekend!

  9. I haven't read them either. I kind of want to read them to see what the hype is, but not sure when I will ever find the time. I like your interpretation. He does seem hungry to me too. :)

  13. Well, I'm guilty, I have read the book, and I do want to see the movie. In fact, I have plans to go with a friend on Monday morning. I figure by then, all the teens will be back in school. Great pic of the "hunger games"...

  14. Hi. Confessing to living under said rock. No kids, no cable, no newspaper-all equal "what's Hunger Games"? Ah loser!! It's OK, I know enough to nod and smile now. I read a couple of the early ones. Used to read them on the train between Bucks Cty and Philly-easy read, not to hard to concentrate.
I hope you have uber amounts of fun on your photowalk. I KNOW you will. Confessing now to some envy. I bet you'll get some amazing photos and find it easy to bond with new friends.
Beautiful daffs by the way. Happy weekend my friend.

  15. I have to say that I loved the books and am looking forward to watching the movie tonight. However, I am not planning on dressing up like your kids! :) Great photo!

  16. Kathy,
I will happily admit I have not read a single Hunger Games book and have no desire to watch the movies. My son announced, out of the blue, that he would like to see the movie and then quickly changed his mind! So I can safely say I will not be talking about it when we meet up this weekend! Love the picture and as always your post put a smile on my face!

  18. Great photo here Kathy, and great writing as usual! Have a wonderful weekend, and think you made a wise choice doing the blog at midnight as opposed to an overrated movie.

  19. Love the photo! I completely believe that I am the only person on the planet that has not read the book yet. Guess I will have to just get the run down from those that have.
