Wasn't feeling the love for Scavenger Hunt Sunday this week. MIGHT have something to do with the fact that the prompts seemed to scream "you better have a little kid around or you're screwed". I'm kinda in no
This week's prompts are: Time to eat, Getting ready, Playtime, Sweet dreams, and Scrub-a-dub...see TOLD ya.
1. Getting Ready
"City Lights"
Philadelphia, PA
Philly is "getting ready" for night time. The lights were just illuminated in preparation for the evening hours.
2. Playtime
"Playing in the Traffic"
Philadelphia, PA
When I use to get on my dad's nerves, he would tell me "Hey Kathy, why don't ya go play in the traffic". I just never took him literally.
"Sabrina's Cafe"
Philadelphia PA
How do I love thee, let me count the calories. Love this fun and funky cafe' for brunch. Two things I can always count on...the fantastic food, and the crowd. There is ALWAYS a crowd because the food is always fantastic. Now THAT is a symbiotic relationship at it's best. The most creative brunch specials ever. I have my suspicions the owner/chef might be a pot head...shhhhh, don't tell his mom. There is just no other way to explain the combos and creativity. Unless his mom dropped him on his head as a child. If she did, the crowds thank you. Each week's specials revolve around a theme. This week, it was an ode to the series finale' of "30 Rock".
4. Sweet Dreams
"A Winter's Shower"
Given the lack of any cute toddlers running around here, it would have just been downright creepy for me to take a photo using a literal translation.
Okay, see what I mean about how this would have been sooooo much easier if I had a youngin'? And not of the teen-aged variety. In the spirit of non-discrimination, perhaps next week's prompts should be:
Reading Glasses, Anti-Wrinkle Cream, Advil, Where did I Put That?, and It's Freakin' Hot in Here!!!!

Ok so this was my big laugh for saturday night Kathy, but see, you did a great job with the prompts and there was not one little kid around! Especially love that first photo, but of course, they are all great. Think your photography is stellar!
ReplyDeleteI have had so many of my friends tell me how fantastic Sabrina's is. We must go there soon. : )
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a MUST. There are three locations. I always go to the one on Callowhill in the Art Museum District. Seriously...go hungry!
Deleteyour Dad used to tell you to go play in traffic lol My Mom used to tell us to go "light somewhere" as if we were annoying flies or something...hmmmm. the nerve lol
ReplyDeleteThe immortal soul pot mexi special looks yummy LOL heeheee a little typo there (you wonder where they come up with these menus?
I like your prompts better!
awesome photos! I love the lamp! And Philly looks awesome as well!
Sandy, the OTHER "fav" saying of my dad's was when we would see a REALLY "unsuitable" guy (ie, unkempt, ragged, grungy, etc) he would say "there goes your last chance to go steady", haha...the nerve :)
DeleteGreat interpretations - I love it when the pictures are creative like this. Loved the menu!!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job!
ReplyDeleteLea
Lea's Menagerie
Kathy you crack me up! Loved your commentary this week (especially the part about what next weeks prompts should be.)
ReplyDeleteOh and your photos....Fabulous! Getting Ready and Sweet Dreams were my favorites but they were all wonderful.
You're right, these prompts were perfect for a baby but I think you did an excellent job-beautiful shots.
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way about the prompt this week. And I have no little ones in the house either. but I do love how you got creative with your shots. They look great!
ReplyDeleteJust loved your take on these prompts!! And I love the prompts you suggested...so can do that one!!! As always I have enjoyed your humor and your writing!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are great!! No kids were harmed in the making of my post either (-:
ReplyDeleteWOW! These interpretations are great! beautiful, beautiful set of photots!!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings & Joys for you!
Pia
As always - you crack me up!
ReplyDeleteYour prompts are much more fitting for my stage of life too - luckily I had willing pelicans to play along with this past week.
Your dad's saying was a favorite of my dad's too!
Enjoy your week!
I would have more than happy to lend you a couple of grand kids!
ReplyDeleteI was going to do a post using my "new" kitchen appliances as the subject (no kiddos here either!) ... but the delivery was such a disaster (read delivery guy dropped the fridge out of the truck so I don't even have that yet!)... couldn't get re-motivated. I love that city light photo - it's scenes like this that are why I love these old eastern cities. I also really love the simple beauty of your last shot. Icy, rainy, slushy, yucky mix here today. The droplets are the prettiest bits!
ReplyDeletei love this series. so beautiful. i love beautiful city lights like the first one. and that's funny, play in traffic... =)
ReplyDeleteFun photos....enjoyed the first one and the lamp shot is terrific.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, my morning dose of "laughing in front of a computer screen all by myself" has been satisfied! I'll take LL's "Eat Your Family Brunch" for 100, please! (well, maybe that should only be for 10, I'm on a diet) :-)
ReplyDeleteSo many lovely photos to see!
ReplyDeleteWell done!
These are awesome, Kathy! My son is 12 now, so I had trouble with this week's prompts, too. Instead of the usual photos of kiddos sleeping, you did something amazing and unique with this set. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteMornin' Kathy, well even with not having a toddler in house I must say you did very well in choosing photos to meet the criteria. You did stretch it a bit with the last one though. You should have got your Better Half to wash your feet and taken a shot of that one. That would have made us all jealous. Maybe next time? Oh don't listend to me. I love all your shots just the way they are :) Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteyou MUST send those prompts to Ashley. I'd love to see her make those work with Felicity. Hee, hee, hee. While we rock them out. I was in the same stretchy boat as you were, "and there's nothing wrong with that". Maybe there will be a Seinfeld bruch soon? How clever. Liz Lemon would have got my vote.
ReplyDeleteI love your play in traffic shot-brilliant, as is the sweet dreams. Your images just get better and better and better. People don't come here just for the fun banger you know. It's always a two-fer.
Great hunt. Love playing in traffic! Happy week to you Kathy.
ReplyDeleteYou did good. You could have done something else with this if your husband allowed you to use him as a muse ;-) Love you made up prompts for next week.
ReplyDeleteKathy,
ReplyDeleteI don't have any little ones either. I think you did just fine with the prompts.
My favorite pictures are the first one and the last. I love the little star of light reflection you captured in the last picture and the way the red bud stands out. Creative!
haha! You really made me laugh this week...too funny. Yep, those are difficult prompts without a wee one around. So you were very clever! Beautiful photos! That restaurant sounds wonderful...maybe the owner's Dad once told him to go play in traffic? :D
ReplyDeleteHey funny lady. You might think you weren't feeling the prompts-bimho- these are awesome-especially that cafe lamp and MOST especially the beads on LIGHTS OUT. That shot is a wowzers.
ReplyDeleteI think you did awesome with these prompts!!!! Love the lights!
ReplyDeleteI think your take on this week's words are spectacular - perfect angles, perfect lighting/fabulously appropriate interpretations. And if that not enough evidence of how much I am a fan of your artistic eye and wicked humor, I am totally down with your suggested prompts for next week.
ReplyDeleteHa! I think you and I had the same feeling about this week's prompts. But hey! You did think creatively and came out on top!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. The gas lamps are my favorite of these.

I thought the phrase "you'll shoot you eye out" a few minutes ago when I was looking at a honkin' big icicle.
ReplyDeleteWonderful images, the lights out is my favorite. Have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteI hear you here. I something think so many of these prompts would be easier with kids. Yours are great. I really love the one of the carrier in the street and the light.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Kathy. My fav is the menu because I'm starving right now and everything on the menu looks wonderful! All your photos are superb, of course.
ReplyDeleteI lmao at the new prompt suggestions! I could really get creative with those.
Well, you did fine without the kiddo! At least you did one, unlike some people. You time on the town always looks so fun!
ReplyDeleteI think you nailed these! I always like to see your interpretations! Love the Waterdrop!!
ReplyDeleteYour interpretations are fabulous! And I love your idea for next week's hunt! I could do them all except reading glasses. And I DO have young'ns running around here. :)
ReplyDeleteOh Kathy, you cracked me up with your 'mature' prompts... lol! But regardless of being kid-challenged, I thought your interpretation of the prompts were very creative, creative indeed and I loved each one! Thank you for sharing on Weekly Top Shot #71!
ReplyDeleteSuch fun choices, Kathy. I really love your take on "sweet dreams".
ReplyDeleteI love your list for next week! Please send it to the person in charge! lol You are too funny!
ReplyDeleteThe lamp shades are so charming ... Also the composition of the picture from the restaurant ... Love it! And the chuck headed chef ~ lol!
ReplyDeleteGreat interpretations Kathy. I know what you mean about having a yougin'. I did a little memory lane theme from the prompts. Your photography is amazing. Thank you for sharing and inspiring a newbie.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week,
Sherry
You came up with a very nice set even without the requisite toddler for inspiration. But it was your last sentence that made me laugh. Great job!
ReplyDeleteYou don't need kids! These photos are brilliant I love them!
ReplyDeleteMy mother used to tell us to go play on the freeway. She thought it was hilarious.
